The last thing I need is a snow day, as I am about to start a short vacation. I NEED to get at least some things done, and I know that that a lot of them will be left unfinished.

And somehow, thinking that we would not be so busy, I scheduled a TV crew to come in this morning, thus eating two hours of my day away from my desk. Yes, it's part of my job, too, but I wish I had them earlier than this.

I took yesterday off to run errands and today looks icy for work, but the roads are clear for half of my commute and I've not received any information about the school being opened or closed either way. So I guess I'm going and, if it's bad, I'll just turn around.

Now, should I take the interstate, which is likely clear the whole way but would make turning around difficult if it's not, or the old highway, which might not be as clear as the interstate but easier to backtrack?

And do you think work would catch on if I intentionally chose the latter?

I don't think we've ever had a work day canceled for snow since I"ve been here. 'Course, we mostly have GoToMyPC remote access, so working from home on days of much show is a viable substitute.

It takes a vast amount of snow to shut down NYC. And it has to snow on a weekday. The big blizzard three years ago was on a Saturday, and by Monday everything was running well enough to not close work. The blizzard before that was on Presidents Day.

I think I last had a snow day in 1997.

On a completely unrelated note? I just discovered how much spoilers can warp views of a pup's canon, yesterday.

Because, as it turns out, one of the biggest plot points in Momiji's canon, namely that the main antagonist, Akito, is secretly a girl, is so spoiled that it's basically impossible to read anything about the series anywhere online without bumping into it. So, there's this whole, messed up love triangle centered on the character that's brought up before the revelation in question is, and it totally didn't occur to me that, for at least a little while, the series openly suggests that the relationships involved are all slashy.

Not that this affects either of my FB pups at all, but it is a nice variation from the standard, Fruits Basket fare, where every character who's vaguely effeminate and/or not involved with girls (and who isn't Momiji) has some kind of related, serious, emotional problem. And it amused me that I never noticed it, before now.
