What's your pup's favorite band? If you have no clue, make one up. (And I don't mean "Mal likes Aerosmith", I mean "Mal listens to a grunge-rap banjo playing trio named Shakkawhosit". Or something.)

Thanks to Guillermo del Toro and his ridiculous attention to detail in background materials, I know that Liz loves the Beatles. Everyone else ... no idea. Though Father Mulcahy is partial to Sinatra. I think. If I'm getting my time periods right.

They moved my desk today and now I sit all by myself in an awkward ghost town of an aisle, instead of where I get to talk to people all day. I feel so isolated and lonely. D:

OKAY. My old aisle partners were fun and funny and we talked over our cubicles all the time. I want them back. No one in this aisle is as nice. D: D: D:

OMG I TAKE IT BACK. I am no longer lonely! The other admin brought me her pet fish. He is very agitated and confused as to where he is, and tries to bite my finger if I touch the surface of the water. He is my friend. :D :D :D

Oh, man. I so know how you feel on the moving of desks to the ghost town. Because my old desk was fun and we talked and laughed and it was great.

Now I'm all alone here (for almost a month) and it's quiet and some days I can go without saying more than 10 words. It sucks.

(Anonymous) 2009-09-28 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! I am pretty sure it's going to be the same here. When I get *really* starved for social contact, I'll probably wander over to the other secretary's desk, though. And she just brought me her pet fish so I don't have to be alone! So I have someone to talk to now, at least. :D

I'm sorry! Aisle ghost towns are crappy. I had it pretty sweet in my other one, with people to talk to and my very own printer; it's funny what moving four feet can do to you.

Kon's favourite band is Great Frog. But he pretends they suck and lies to Steph about liking them.

Because he's mean :)

Kowaru's favourite song is Ode to Joy (OH SNAP). No, he can't ever hear that song again. XD He'll like some classical music he'll get from the bar, of which a major player will be Wes Evans, aka-

Soul's brother, but he likes jazz more. Except for onesong.. that they used to save theworld.

Enzo loves the RAMones (with songs such as "I Wanna Be Deleted" and "Do You Remember Streaming Media?"). Although he's not ordinarily into classical, he's discovered he really likes that Bach dude.

The Revenant is known to listen to Cat Stevens, and uses "Sirius" by the Alan Parsons Project as a shield against telepathy.

The only bands/artists mentioned in Danny Phantom canon are Dumpty Humpty and Ember McLain. The former is popular with all the kids and seems okay, but considering that Tucker seems to have enjoyed Ember's genero-pop music even after he was freed from her spell, I consider his taste highly suspect.

Unfortunately, my first two characters to leap to mind with musical tastes are both fond of genres I am not sufficiently familiar with to determine a favourite band. I know Gordon has a fondness for country music, particularly Garth Brooks, that he has only ever admitted to Alyx and Barney (and Alyx only found out because she asked Bar what Gordon would like). Adrian Shephard, while he's fond of country in general, has a serious fondness for metal as well. Metallica for certain; some AC/DC, if that counts at this point; and I know that every time he gets behind the controls of a helicopter he has to ruthlessly stomp down on his mental soundtrack, because his mental soundtrack tends to switch to "High Speed Dirt" by Megadeth. (See the earth below / Soon to make a crater / Blue sky, black death / I'm off to meet my maker- he, um, really doesn't like flying.)

Bumblebee just laughs, because if there is human music available on the Internet somewhere he has listened to it, period, end of sentence. However, he has a quiet fondness for the 'Madonna of Asia', Anita Mui.

Sam likes classical music, but he hasn't really got much interest in any music.

Molly ... I'm not sure, but if she were from ten years previous she'd ADORE the Spice Girls. Right now it's probably whatever teenage cash cow Disney is currently milking in her world.

And she kind of likes Niko's grunge and metal music.

older!Minerva McGonagall is kind of partial to the Weird Sisters and has always wanted to hex Celestina Warbeck, but you'll never get her to admit it. Younger Minerva, I suspect, hasn't got much time for music.

Martha Jones likes British rock: Franz Ferdinand, the Fratellis, Oasis, Snow Patrol, Stereophonics... and U2, but she won't admit to that one.

Raoul isn't interested in music. Ew, parties.

And Edna loves the sweet, sweet sound of her own awesomeness. :D

Ace loves (loves) smooth jazz, and like the utter dork she is will collect autographs of musicians. Thanks to time-travel, she has quite the hefty collection.

Romana is particularly fond of a trio of Venusian vocalists, but unfortunately their band name isn't readily translatable to English. Neither are any of their songs, actually.

Wedge loves the Dreadnaughts fight song. :D!
*cough*
I mean. Um. Well. Actually. Yeah. Dreadnaughts are definitely taking the tournament this year.

Laranth listens to a band made up of Padawans and new Jedi Knights that plays something more in the pop/new age/techno region - They call themselves the 'Do Naughts', which they all find hilarious and Master Yoda doesn't (so far as anyone knows).

Urahara really really likes the Beach Boys. Now those humans had the right idea.

Glorfindel listens to minstrels. He isn't sure what these bands are that you speak of. He does know that if any of them learn 'The Fall of Gondolin', he will cheerfully thump them, just like he has most of the minstrels in Imladris.

Scaramouche doesn't listens to bands. She is the band, yo.

Bones listens to bluegrass, especially a more old-style band named 'Old Magnolia Time'.

*giggle* Has Ace met [livejournal.com profile] heyfootballhead yet? From the sound of it, just placing them in proximity with each other might result in spontaneous sax music of indeterminate origin.

Tom is not a big fan of music, but he does like Bach an awful lot.

Ingress is still a fan of the Weird Sisters, thanks to Tonks' early influence.

Bela likes the Chemical Brothers.

Mojo Jojo digs a jazz trio called the Hepcats.

Ciel is not big on that whole Romantic music thing going on in his time. (He is not big on music as a whole, I imagine - no more than is the polite for a gentleman, at least.) But I think he probably has at least a slight taste for opera, with Don Giovanni and Gounod's Faust being pretty far up on his list of favorites.

Paganini is near the top, as far as individual artists are concerned, for reasons unrelated to the stories about him consorting with the devil.

The Devil is a big fan of Sister Hazel and the Gypsy Kings.

Jordan Kennedy loves Brian Eno and Frank Zappa.

Canon-wise, Johnny's got a thing for classic rock (Much to Bruce's consternation that he should try listening to music in the *current* decade). It even came up in a court hearing about him owning AC/DC's Highway to Hell, and then the lawyer pointing out that it had nothing to do with demons and he himself was a fan.

It hasn't really been touched on with Nathan but I'd imagine he likes some rock, jazz and r&b. There was some jazz playing in his hotel room when Niki went to meet with him. And probably due to he's played by awesome Adrian Pasdar, the flyboy who's visited Texas got a thing for country as well.

Kate as a musician likes a wide variety of artists and bands.

*Whines* I've got a headache and I want to go back to sleep. This is my first day back in school in two weeks.

Coreen loves Pink Floyd and can play a bit on guitar. She's fond of a lot of things, besides Squirrel's favorite, Donna Summer, which may, in large doses cause Coreen to go into a catatonic state.

Edie is another Pink Floyd fan, but she also loves The Kinks and The Beatles. She's often seen wearing original band tees...yes, they are altered to fit her, and yes, she was the girl at the concert that bought the tee shirt.

Beetle is fond of really random Japanese pop music and rap. And a lot of really ridiculous pop music. I think he's a secret fan of Hannah Montana.

Ivy likes jazz. It mellows her out, and she can work out to it, but I think her favorite band is U2. Their lyrics speak to her.

Cleopatra has her own musicians and they damn well better play whatever she wants them to. Or else.

[identity profile] spooky-lemur.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Ben Grimm loves Big Band, especially Dean Martin. I suspect he would like Rockabilly if I can ever figure out a way for him to discover it.

Val von Doom's favorite band was the Spice Girls but she recently left them behind when she discovered Goldfrapp and Ladytron.

If I was running Grover at the start of his canon I'd have to say something like Hillary Duff for him but fortunately he is coming in during Battle of the Labyrinth where specific songs are no longer mentioned. Now he likes MGMT, Pink, Lily Allen and Katy Perry.

Okay now back to work so I can get to tagging threads again!

Teja's taste in 'music from the future' has been shaped by Toki Wartooth (Death Metal), Yrael (jazz and classical) and Tonio Treschi (baroque opera); but left to his own devices, he finds he prefers folk-rock bands like Jethro Tull of Show Of Hands most of all. When he likes one of those songs, he'll sing it to the guitar himself. He's built quite a repertory by now.

Donovan likes music with meaningful lyrics, Indie-going-on-mainstream, like Snow Patrol or Vienna Teng or The Gossip or David Usher: anything you'd find on the sound track of movies like Donnie Darko or Garden State.-

Tower likes jazz and swing. And perhaps the sound of crumbling high-rises, but the last part is purely for business reasons.

Ma'at likes sweet cheerful oriental pop, from North African Rai to Bollywood songs, and everything that lies between, geographically and historically.

And I don't think 'Suti cares about music at all. He liked to listen to Charlie Pace play, but that was more because he was in awe of the bloke anyway.-

Felix's world doesn't really have bands; there's one character who introduces himself as a bard, and that's as far as in-world music (as opposed to the games' background music) goes. As for his personal preferences, I suspect he'd enjoy some country stuff - though not to excess - and mid-twentieth-century musicals (assuming he had the context to understand; Sound of Music, for instance, is not terribly portable).

[identity profile] remindmeofthe.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Cal doesn't really have one. I Millicanoned his world as being a musical one, so recorded music serves a different purpose there - people find their music at around roughly the end of adolescence, so recorded music exists for children and teenagers to have a musical outlet. So Cal finds it weird to listen to recorded music, because it's still, to him, something for kids.

Javert doesn't have time for that sort of indulgent nonsense.

Clay claims a local band called the Deadites (which is me honoring Sam Raimi's taste for in-jokes) as his favorite, but secretly he likes classical music best. Especially Chopin. And he wishes that Billy Joel would do some more instrumental pieces. He can't help it. It's what he grew up with.

Applegate, contrary to popular assumption, does not prefer the wailing of the damned as they writhe in eternal agony. It gives him a headache.

The Pirate King prefers his own soundtrack.

I think Demeter prefers the kind of music that's played when a group of friends are together or when the harvest is celebrated.

Will likes music he can dance to and enjoys most things that Kate plays.

Jane also prefers music that you can dance to and that makes you pay attention.

Tumnus adores the simple music of the pan pipe and the music that Bacchus inspires and creates.

I'm not sure about Sameth, I think he doesn't really think about it that much and so always followed Nick's lead in terms of music. Also canonically he doesn't really like to dance at court so I think he doesn't enjoy that music that much. I'm still figuring out more about his school days but I kind of think that he's always been more interested in things than music.

Though music is very connected to how the Charter is used, but again I think compared to say his mother, he prefers tracing or speaking versus whistling or singing. Over all, I'm not sure about that.
