(no subject)

So...a recent post with Quaritch brought to my attention the rather substantial number of military characters we've got active (particularly as a share of active characters).  On talking with Jack (Voodoo's mun), we both agreed that we ought to try something oriented towards them.  So I'm thinking two things:

1) Voodoo's mun suggested an endurance course entitled "Monster Mash":
"It's a five mile run, followed by a two mile swim. After that, they get out of the surf zone, pair up with a shooting partner. After a few sprints in the sand, the shooting pair runs the gauntlet, in which they alternate carrying in each other in a fireman's carry while smoke grenades, det cord, and half-pound blocks of TNT explode just a few feet from their faces. After that, it's a quarter-mile dash to a rifle range, where they would have to reassemble an AK-47, then lock and load and shoot for score at a series of silhouette targets two hundred meters away."

2) I'm also thinking of having Quaritch set up an exercise group each morning while he's here.  He wouldn't be so much "in charge" (as he's ICly not in the Bar permanently), but he'd get things rolling.  With this many military types, the lack of such a group is conspicuous by its absence.

3) And yes, I'm up for ideas as well for what we could collaborate on in this vein.  These are two good starter ideas, but I'd like to hear what everyone else has to add, amend, or substitute for these two.

P.S. And somehow, I only today realized that I don't have Quaritch registered with the back room.  Go figure...

There is an obstacle course already built out back that is waiting for a good use part of it is dedicated to the needs of supers, but most of it is usable by non-powered peopled. There is even a grenade range close by!

I can see Sariel participating in the second of the two options (not the first, because wrong field and how despite academy training) if she's in the bar on a morning here and there. She'd give it a go, at least.

Don't forget the Labyrinth which can be used for adventures or just training of some sort. Also there's the firing range and pells too.

I know that of mine Will and Sameth would be interested as they have training just of other eras and Sameth was in Ancelstierre's ROTC.

What're the pells? I know the Labyrinth (I've used it before), and I know the firing range...

The pells are for sword and staff training, basically a wooden cross/figure that's about the shape of a man to use for practice. I have two pups with sword training and one with staff who use it. Also there's the punching bag which is the same general area.

LOL Jack is torn on the first part. Part of him is thinking "You really want to do this, SEAL? OKAY, LET'S GO." Meanwhile the more sensible part of him is thinking, "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING, YOU ARE TOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT."

Also Jack would be up for the second one, when he's in the bar. :D

AHAHAHAHAHA.

Between the Delta Boys, the SEAL, the Marines...this could get awful competitive.

LOL And which means that our two old guys could get awful hurt. ;)

Though that does kind of tie in with something I was thinking about...

*laughs*

Oh, this could get good. Actually, thinking about it, I have a funny feeling that both one and two could get competitive. The thought of a paced endurance run comes to mind here.

Wrong journal but Sameth would be since he played it at school.

[identity profile] not-inkansas.livejournal.com 2011-05-15 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Quaritch wouldn't be opposed, but I don't know that he's ever played.

Sameth would happily teach people how to play rugby, it was one of the main sports he did at Somersby. The other was cricket but he knows that's a harder sell.

[identity profile] not-inkansas.livejournal.com 2011-05-16 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah...Rugby has a lot broader popularity. Cricket is basically Commonwealth-only.

Yup and Sameth's from another world and went to a school in a place that's the equivalent of 1910s or 1920s England. He did watch the baseball game so he knows that there isn't a lot of interest for cricket but rugby would make him happy.
