(no subject)

So...a recent post with Quaritch brought to my attention the rather substantial number of military characters we've got active (particularly as a share of active characters).  On talking with Jack (Voodoo's mun), we both agreed that we ought to try something oriented towards them.  So I'm thinking two things:

1) Voodoo's mun suggested an endurance course entitled "Monster Mash":
"It's a five mile run, followed by a two mile swim. After that, they get out of the surf zone, pair up with a shooting partner. After a few sprints in the sand, the shooting pair runs the gauntlet, in which they alternate carrying in each other in a fireman's carry while smoke grenades, det cord, and half-pound blocks of TNT explode just a few feet from their faces. After that, it's a quarter-mile dash to a rifle range, where they would have to reassemble an AK-47, then lock and load and shoot for score at a series of silhouette targets two hundred meters away."

2) I'm also thinking of having Quaritch set up an exercise group each morning while he's here.  He wouldn't be so much "in charge" (as he's ICly not in the Bar permanently), but he'd get things rolling.  With this many military types, the lack of such a group is conspicuous by its absence.

3) And yes, I'm up for ideas as well for what we could collaborate on in this vein.  These are two good starter ideas, but I'd like to hear what everyone else has to add, amend, or substitute for these two.

P.S. And somehow, I only today realized that I don't have Quaritch registered with the back room.  Go figure...

Yeah...Rugby has a lot broader popularity. Cricket is basically Commonwealth-only.

Yup and Sameth's from another world and went to a school in a place that's the equivalent of 1910s or 1920s England. He did watch the baseball game so he knows that there isn't a lot of interest for cricket but rugby would make him happy.
