Karkat is not fully in the throes of mating fondness with any one person. Canonwise he is definitely flushed for Terezi still, and has a red attraction to Jade, too, and then there are all the interesting and attractive people in the bar, too. He is the equivalent of 13 years old and pretty much made of hormones; his concupiscent quadrants probably won't settle for a little bit.
Same goes, therefore, for <3<. He hateflirts pretty much incessantly, but he is too emotionally exhausted and uncertain how to do it with humans to really pursue a kismessitude. In his head it is still the relationship he values most, and deep down he is afraid he is not important or dangerous enough to attract the rivalry of anyone worthwhile. And his standards are ridiculously high, to boot, and he is more than a little in hate with himself.
He has done his share of casual auspisticizing, but there is definitely not any one pair he sees himself as committed to keep away from each other's throats. I think this tends to only become a permanent relationship later in life, as trolls mature and settle into their ways.
There is a moirail he was born to pacify out there, but he has got to listen to where his heart is up in at first to figure it out. His self-conception as a dangerous badass is in the way; he likes to believe he would be the one who needs to be pacified in a moirallegiance. But he is wrong, and the mysterious forces of troll serendipity have already set his feet on the path to his One True Pale Pairing. But that would be a spoiler!
If there is any "thing" or abstract concept he loves, it's the quadrants themselves; he is a ridiculous romantic. He has reached the point where he is able to admit how breathtakingly stupid and awful most of troll society is/was, but he still thinks humans are insane and deprived having only one form of romance.

I'm also fond of interpreting the Doctor's relationship with the Master as kismessitude. Thanks mainly to a conversation Karkat had with the Master in MM once upon a time.
I really like troll romance. It's one of the things that got me INTO Homestuck.

Also I'd never heard of the comic at all before and I had to know what all these strange words meant and what Karkat was ranting about.

I'm reading Be the Sea Dweller Lowblood (http://www.mspaforums.com/showthread.php?38844-Be-the-Sea-Dweller-Lowblood) and Bloodswapped (http://www.mspaforums.com/showthread.php?41238-Bloodswapped-zombie-goasts-leave-this-place-but-this-is-0ur-hive-0_0) at the moment. Both of 'em are AUs, which is kinda obvious (I love AUs), and both of them update fast.
