"...The... guys. Who go around fighting gangs of ninja trained flying monkeys."

She looks and sounds far beyond bemused and into simply full of absolute disbelief.

"They wear spandex."

Dinah shakes her head. "I know," she agrees. "At least I've got leather protecting the parts that count.

"Though," she adds with a frown. "I guess most of the men aren't too worried about that. They nearly all have superpowers."

Which make them more or less bulletproof.

Lois' eyes just go up even more.

"And all these men have superpowers that make them impervious to a baseball bat to the groin--and the fashion police?"

"Well, they all have the physique that looks good in spandex," Dinah offers. "All of them.

"To tell you the truth, it's distracting. I have to wear fishnets just to level the playing field."

Lois laughs. "One of the best uses of fishnets I've heard.

"But really?" Her tone is part incredulous, partly actually interested by now. "All of them, guys, and they can pull off tights? Is that the superpower, or do they actually have something else?"

[raptorcanaria]

"It might just be the exercise," Dinah offers. "It's physically grueling work, fighting night after night."

She knows, after all.

"And y'know, the shapeshifter can look how he likes."

"Damn." Lois looks noticeably appreciative at the thought. "That's got to be better than visits to the gym. Well, except the bruising--though I guess it's not a problem, if they're wearing spandex?"

And then she blinks.

"Shapeshifter? Seriously?"

"Martian," Dinah explains. "Apparently everyone can up there?"

"Martian?" she asks with absolute delight. "You weren't kidding about the aliens thing?"

[raptorcanaria]

Dinah shakes her head. "Never. We have one Martian, one Kryptonian, and a guy who's technically an Earther but spends a lot of his time as a member of the Space Police."

"Okay, first of all you have got to explain this whole space police thing."

If this is all a hallucination--which Lois is not ruling out--it is the best ever.

Dinah glances around the bar, hoping Hal might be there, because he explains it better.

"As far as I can tell, it's like those old Westerns, with a lone sheriff guarding the wild west from outlaws? Only the outlaws are little green men and instead of a Sheriff's badge and gun, he has a green power ring."

Lois glances around too, confused, as she isn't sure why Dinah might have done that.

"Huh. I thought green was supposed to be an Earth thing, not an outer-space thing. Aliens really are all little green men? Okay, except the shapeshifter, he can probably pick."

Dinah shrugs, rubbing her neck sheepishly.

"OK, the Martian is green. But the little men? I don't know. They could be any color. He fights a lot of them."

"Oh. Really?" Lois sounds almost disappointed. "I'd always heard--"

Beat.

"Okay, so I'd always heard aliens weren't actually real, so I'm just not even going there."

With a cheerful grin, Dinah says, "I guess my life isn't exactly normal."

[presspasskey]

"No kidding. So, Mars, space police, ninja monkeys, and guys in tights."

She tilts her head. "Okay, so you said there was another alien. Is he one of the green kind?"

[raptorcanaria]

"No," Dinah says firmly. "He's the tall, dark and looks breathtakingly good in spandex type."

Dinah's cheerful in admitting Clark has a body and look to die for. Because he's not an asshole and therefore she has absolutely no sexual tension with him.

Lois blinks.

And then blinks again.

"He's an alien?" She sounds utterly confused. "He looks human?" Or so she assumes, from the gushing.

[raptorcanaria]

"He's an alien who looks human," Dinah confirms. "Without the need for shapeshifting. It's convenient."

[presspasskey]

"I'll say. Must be easier to get people to not care so much about the whole alien thing when you're the drop-dead-gorgeous type."

Pause.

"It's bad that I'm still finding the spandex the most unbelievable thing here."

[raptorcanaria]

"Maybe?" Dinah says. "I don't know, I grew up with it, so my perspective is all skewed."

[presspasskey]

"Sure," Lois allows, "but if you haven't seen a guy who can pull of tights..."

She shrugs. "My cousin keeps writing to me about this freaky town she lives in, and people turning up with crazy powers. Creepy space rock, random bars where bedrooms should be... eh. Aliens in tights is only ten times stranger. I'll believe it if I see it, I guess."

"Yeah?" Dinah asks, interested now. "What town?"

"Smallville." Lois rolls her eyes. "I swear to god, only Kansas would think of a name like that. I cannot believe Chlo ha-- di-- ...hasn't gone nuts there."
