Red won't be going home for a while, yet. When she does, she's going to have to have a very long conversation with her grandmother about... certain information, and she needs to be sure she can get through that without losing her temper. Preferably without losing her composure, too, but... well. That may be a losing battle no matter what.

Besides, if Mary - Snow - is going to survive on her own, she'll need to know a thing or several more than she does right now about how to live off the land. The next people she tries to steal eggs from may not be so forgiving, after all.

Red is expecting to follow a set of rabbit tracks around a tree; she's not expecting the woods to change as she does so, but she smells it before she realises the tracks - and the light dusting of snow they were in - have completely disappeared.
