Possible reasons may include: excessive canon mangling (anyone living in the 163X setting. They have an incredible ability to munchkin), incompatible metaphysics (my only personal example here would be Marc C. DuQuesne from Grand Central Arena), and inability to function in Bar (Croup and Vandemar would, I think, come the closest here).

I played Sideshow Bob for a while some years back. His voice is still incredibly strong. But he is, for lack of a better word, a cartoon character. He is from a very strange and unique canon, and he doesn't interact well with others. And he doesn't change. Even recent efforts to get him away from being one dimensional circled back around to inept criminal mastermind. So I had to let him by the wayside.
