DE: Once more...

So, your pup has woken up and the world is singing instead of talking, Even they can't help themselves. How do they react? Do they just go along until they can figure out what's happened? Do they avoid speaking, and thus singing, as much as they can? Are they secretly pleased with the turn of events?

ETA: For those from musical canons, what if everyone stopped singing?

Enzo tries to investigate the cause and how to fix it, but will cope fine in the interim.

Zecora remains calm and collected;
after all, she is barely affected. ;-)

Nah man, snarky-ass responses are my literal favorite thing.

No singing? What, like none? What are you guys doing? Like, he knows other people in the play get straight dialogue, but c'mon it's been like an hour. It's song time! Guys?

This is creepy.

Amascut's first priority would be to find the cause in order to assess if she can take advantage of it or not. She is not genre savvy enough to know that musical episodes usually involve involuntary exposition of secret plans, so that might be a problem. That is, unless singing means talking with a musical accent and cadence. I have relatives that have such "accents" :P

Fairy Fixit would be delighted. It would mean people would listen to her rambling longer before tuning her out.

Gordon just goes back to being a silent protagonist until it all blows over. It's not like he hasn't got years of experience in communicating without bothering to open his mouth.

Shephard would probably go along with it, but people wouldn't be able to understand him, because just to be annoying he'd do a death metal voice every time he sang. (It's not a variety of metal he particularly favors, but the distinctive sound lodges in the brain.)

Not sure about the others.

Depends - if we're talking 'reveal all your secrets through song' singing a la Buffy-verse, I think the only one of mine that wouldn't find a dark room and some duct tape is Blakeney, who doesn't feel he has much of anything to hide anyway.

If they're just singing, without the need for the secret-telling, the only one who's going to have a problem is Ace. It's not that she'd mind personally, per say - it's that everyone with any sense of pitch whatsoever would tackle her and force her into silence.

Enjolras is juuuuust enough from the musical canon that I would probably have him not notice anything different; he'd just switch from 19th century novel dialogue to stirring Broadway anthems. (Whether I-the-mun could filk fast enough to keep up with it is an entirely separate question.)

Thor would notice, shrug in bemusement, and roll with it. I mean, he'd try to figure out what was happening, but not with embarrassment or deep urgency; he'd kind of get a kick out of it, and probably congratulate someone on a good prank at the end of it.

River would be silent and cranky as much as possible. If there were dance breaks she'd enjoy that part, though.

Regan, less personally cranky about being made to sing (though she's not wild about it) and more cranky about having magic affecting her, but it probably works out similarly.

Cosette would be confused, but have enormous fun. (Cosette is kind of a Disney princess several decades before Disney, so.)

Clare would probably be in the woods and miss the entire thing. If she didn't, she'd be mostly silent out of startled confusion. If she had to talk, she'd be kind of irked about the singing, but it wouldn't fundamentally offend her.

Trowa: definitely silent. Definitely trying to figure out wtf is going on.

Stitch has an atrocious singing voice and you'd be lucky to get any English in the lyrics. I could see him attempting speech, blinking in surprise and glaring out at the world in angry silence... right up until something else prompted him to say something. It would end in a lot of snarling incomprehensible profanity.

Discord... I can't imagine Discord's too pleased with being controlled. Watching everyone else flail is definitely a bonus though. Hell, he's probably behind this.

But Stitch, what if the score is based on Elvis songs?

I'm pretty sure Stitch's rendition would come out sounding a bit like this.

Clem would presume it was a bad trip and just go with it while hoping the stuff would wear off.

Dixie would presume it was Orb related, go looking for Brisco and meanwhile enjoy every single little drop of musical attention she received.

Juliet experienced this in canon! And went along with it.

Pinkie: Would be super sad about the lack of singing and lead an expedition to find out why everyone had suddenly gone silent. Cue a special rescue party!

Eponine's life would become even more unbearably tragic than it already is.
