"They're commonly found in England", he tells her. "They may have been brought from other parts of Europe, long ago, but they grow in England now."

"And... you use these to make medicine?" she guesses.

[a_rare_benedictine]

"Yes, I do. Medicines to relieve pain, to cure infection and help wounds to heal cleanly... anything plants can achieve."

Kuriyama closes the fingers of her right hand, burning from the bandages there.

"That's very pleasant, Brother Cadfael..."

[a_rare_benedictine]

He glances at her hand instinctively at the movement, then looks again.

"Child, you're hurt?"

[halfemptyglasses]

"Ah, it's... It's just....nothing to worry about..." she goes, fiddling with her glasses again.

[a_rare_benedictine]

"Would you let me see?" he asks gently. "To set my mind at ease."

[halfemptyglasses]

"It's just a pinprick," she tells him, pulling her hands to her chest.

[a_rare_benedictine]

He doesn't push, even though a pinprick wouldn't usually need bandages.

"I trust you've cleaned it."

[halfemptyglasses]

It wouldn't, but Band-Aid leaves something to be desired in Kuriyama's case.

She nods and says, "I- I even have clean bandages. So it's nothing to worry about, really."

"Very well." He's not quite happy, but he doesn't want to make her unhappy either, that would be counter-productive. "If you see any problem, please take yourself to a physician."

"I will. I have a doctor."

That she actually needs to call due to moving.

[a_rare_benedictine]

"Will that still be convenient, if you're living elsewhere?"

[halfemptyglasses]

"I can take the tr- Oh! Oh, I hadn't..." she interrupts herself, recalling earlier in their talk. "In- in 2012 there are trains. I mean, they've been around longer than 2012, but they're really fast in my time. They... They're like carriages set on tracks, so they can only go to certain places. And they have an engine that runs on coal or electricity that makes them move instead of horses."

He listens carefully, nodding.

"I see. So the distance will be no consideration, really?"

[halfemptyglasses]

"That's right."

Assuming she has money, of course. That...she'll figure something out. But it's going to be easier getting money than it would be finding a new doctor.

[a_rare_benedictine]

"Well, then. Clearly you have it all in hand."

[halfemptyglasses]

"Ah, I'm sorry," she goes. "We- we were supposed to be figuring this place out. I- I'm still not sure how the time thing happened."

"That, I'm not certain we'll ever know. Have you established if you can return home easily?"

[halfemptyglasses]

"I hadn't. Did- did you come from the same door?" she asks, indicating the one she went through.

[a_rare_benedictine]

Cadfael nods. "I did, yes. One of us should try it..."

He's quite willing for it to be him, if she's nervous.

[halfemptyglasses]

She goes for it, grabbing the doorknob and giving it a twist. It opens on the outside of the train station, concrete and electric lights.

"This is where I was..." she confirms.

"Then that's a very good sign you will be able to return, exactly to where you left."

[halfemptyglasses]

"Ah, did you want to try?" she asks, letting go of the door.

[a_rare_benedictine]

"I should", he agrees, and steps forward to try in turn.

It leads to an empty room that looks like something between a workshop and a laboratory.
