IC D&D?
Hello, all!
I had an idea for a thing, and I wanted to gauge interest.
The short version: I would like to have George (who has never played D&D) run a D&D campaign for characters (most of whom will probably also never have played D&D).
In George's canon, his roommate, Simon, is super geeky, and loves tabletop RP. He tries repeatedly to get the other students to play a campaign, but they all refuse on account of their real lives looking too much like a D&D campaign.
Now, George himself has never played, but he misses Simon, and I think he'd love to try and get together a group and run a campaign with other Milliways pups. I was thinking we could start it off as a one-shot and see how it goes
Important caveat: I have never played D&D and neither has George, so this would really be a case of someone pseudo-familiar with D&D DMing for the first time based solely on whatever books Bar (aka The Seattle Public Library System) can drum up. Which, really, I think is half the fun of this idea.
Like I said, I'm just gauging interest right now, so let me know if that's something you (and/or your pup) might be interested in participating in.
Questions? Comments? Personal Problems? Anyone care for a mint?

I can't help but cackle over the idea of Thor thinking he's signing up for an adventure game, actually signing up for "an adventure game we play while sitting still, using dice, and doing math," and but carrying on anyway because he said he would, and being really good at certain aspects and really godawful at others.

I have this image of Thor so into the game as the party goes into battle. He describes his attack in great detail and with great gusto, and rolls... a one.

hi i mean
uh
i'd be interested?
also willing to offer up any of my others--Lois, Evelyn (aka future Dragon Age Inquisitor), Eriond, R2, and I guess also Anakin but uuuuh that might be an interestingly poor and hilarious choice at once but look basically it's D&D count me in

(do you read darths and droids?)

(I do not, but I will always take recommendations.)

(Ooooh definitely read Darths and Droids, actually! Especially if you want to do this. You can learn a lot about tabletop campaigns from Darths and Droids, and Friendship is Dragons is fairly good for that too. Sorta also DM of the Rings but Darths and Droids is much healthier.)

The mun has played a moderate amount of tabletop games - well, "tabletop", all of them to date have been conducted online through text - but mostly New World of Darkness, although I was in a steampunk Pathfinder campaign for a decent amount of time and I've played some oneshot/two-shot-because-time-constraints D&D 5e games. Also I've been an Order of the Stick reader since 2007-ish but that might not actually mean much.
