More pilfering from the gallery today. Don't forget there's the Suggestion Box if you have ideas we can use for topics.
leeshajoy asked in chat:
What's the weirdest/most obscure thing you've researched in the process of playing your pup?

What should you have researched but ceebs (short for “C.B.A” or “can’t be arsed”)?

More recently I've poked at the idea of how East Asian perception of metaphysical elements would affect a magic-user who summons elements, especially if they had not grown up in the Western world or had a teacher who was trained that way. I ended up not bothering with the game mechanics as it was bogging me down and Milliways doesn't need hard and fast rules as a tabletop game does.

The first thing that comes to mind is when I was playing Will Scarlett and spent a lot of time researching what foods he might know about. Also various fighting techniques before realizing that writing fights is hard, handwaving and understanding RP partners taught me it was okay to not stress too much. I dived a little into clothing before giving up. Playing a legendary version of the character helped for that.
William's the next one where I've done a fair bit of research, it helps that I find American history interesting but I found a site that gave estimated money conversions that was helpful. I soon gave up on some of the specifics especially with guns and horses.
In terms of my non-historical characters, it depends on the canon and all. For Sameth, I haven't done deep research into forging and making but now its something that I look out for. With Cassian, Wookiepedia is the best for deciding, how deep down a rabbit hole do I want to go?
