And in this back room post, I detail some physical alterations! (It also should have been posted a week ago, but we've already gone over my flakiness. :D?)

Non-Essential Info On Dragons and Their Gold Which They Kinda Keep In Caves, But Not Really )

How does this affect your pup? Well, it doesn't, really, unless they explore the mountains, can devote a few days to climbing one, and are really good at it. If all of those apply, well, hey, they might just stumble across a cave that's made of gold. Or at least has a paper thin sheet of it covering the area where Kédra curls up. BUT I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT THIS CAVE IS HARD TO GET TO. Unless your pup can fly, but then that's just cheating. ;)

I have no problems with a pup finding the cave! I do, however, ask that you ping me beforehand to discuss circumstances, such as whether or not Kédra is home at the time, and consequences, because even if he isn't, he'll be able to smell that your pup was in there (unless they've worked some crazy magic and hid their scent).

I'm reachable by AIM at moonlup. Alternatively, my email is moonlup [at] gmail [dot] com.

Oh! And could the mun of the Lucifer that created the demon bunnies contact me anyway? I'd like to iron out a few details 'bout Kédra and them. Thanks!

As of this post there is once again a ship in the Caribbean inlet of the lake. This ship will be there for the entire day (1st November) and will vanish again at midnight, Bar time. It will be back occasionally, but unless there's a post to that effect, or one of its crew is in the bar, please assume it's not there.

And if you're still avoiding spoilers for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, that's all you need to know.

Otherwise:

About the ship. )

As has been said in a prior post, the Dreaming’s connection to the Milliways forest is going away as of Halloween. What does this mean in practical terms?

- No Tofu Beast(s) in the woods any more.
- Nyarlathotep? Also not going to be in the forest.
- In fact, anything magical that has not been specifically put there by someone else- i.e., the demon bunnies, which were a creation of one of the Lucifers- will no longer be there.
- The phenomenon of ‘it gets WEIRDER the further I go on’ will no longer exist, either. It will simply be a very deep forest, composed primarily of the sorts of trees one gets in northern Britain (since the grounds are based on Scotland).
- Milliways’ weird geography, however, will still apply. If you go far enough into the forest that you lose sight of the lands outside, you will eventually emerge from the forest back where you started. This has always been the case with the Milliways grounds. (Belar’s mountains, for example, only actually have one side. Go over them and you find yourself back where you began.)
- Non-magical creatures may be present in the forest if they have been introduced by someone else on purpose, such as the fish and deer that Belar put on his mountains; the deer might conceivably have wandered into the forest.
- Any further exotic creatures will have to come from the worlds of pups currently in the Bar, with their full knowledge and consent and an okay from the mods.

Thought we should let you know.

As of this thread, there are a number of new developments.

1.) The greenhouse has been trashed. Several glass panes are broken, pots and shelving inside have been damaged, a couple of plants have been thrown out through the walls... it's a big ol' mess, basically.

2.) Stitch has been celled for an unknown period of time (probably only a couple of days).

3.) Audrey II is out of the greenhouse and prowling the woods somewhere.

That is all.

Right, so. As you may have noticed, there've been a few changes outside the bar tonight. :)

To that end, here are a few things that might be of interest to know--

* The inlet/bay that Tia Dalma transformed into a small piece of the Caribbean remains just that-- a large inlet/bay with an odd little environment all its own. There is an interface where salt water meets fresh, but the lake as a whole is not changed.

* The Black Pearl is gone. (So is the Flying Dutchman, for that matter.)

* There are some pieces of flotsam and jetsam that may wash up on the beach, including odds and ends of wooden boxes and barrels, bits of rope, the wreckage of the floating pier and a very battered raft. Caspian's Hope, which was moored near the Pearl, is probably currently drifting on the tide-- but it's for [livejournal.com profile] the_seafarer to say as to what condition she's now in.

... I think that's it. Questions/comments? Please leave them here, and either I or someone involved in PotC canon will answer them!

I'm trying to work on a project for Millicon -- is there any sort of list somewhere of approved physical alterations to the bar and surrounding grounds? I've checked the tagged posts inna backroom but they don't go back very far. I'm also going to dig around in my personal archives, but I wanted to post the the question to you guys and the bar denizens a whole.

Any physical alterations to the bar that you've had approved? Let me know!

This includes alterations in the bar, on the bar, out back lakeside, stables, woods, on top of the bar, garage, bathroom graffiti, everything. I want to get as comprehensive a list as humanly possible. Let's check out those gmail notification archives, people! Plz? :D?

Just as a quick note to anyone who'd have reason to notice--

Following certain events, conversations, and maybe even what could be called complications of yesterday (even if the thread is still in slowtime for now)-- as of last night, the Black Pearl has been slightly relocated.

She's not hidden, or anything like that, because it's awfully hard to hide a black ship with black sails on a lake. However, she's no longer immediately visible through the lake window; one has to either go outside or look specifically in order to see her. Also, the Pearl is now anchored further out than before, in the mouth of an inlet that's down the shore a ways. The floating pier that normally links ship and shore has been pulled back against the ship unless specifically stated otherwise, which means that she can't be reached without special means (or unless Gibbs, Jack, or Wellard is around, as they have access to the trick of it).

(As for Jack himself, he's currently in his cabin on board the Pearl. Thinking. A lot. With rum, and not a single apple in sight.)

Thanks!

ETA: And because I forgot to mention it above -- Jack may be less than pleased about Barbossa's arrival, but I'm delighted. Muahaha.

I mean, what? *looks innocent, and runs off to work*

An Idea

So I've got a new character in the bar, Mia Ausa, & with her entrance came an anomaly in how people usually come to Milliways. Instead of just a door, she ended up landing in a plain, seemingly-normal room, as is often the style of dungeons in the video game she's from.

Now I had this idea that the room, the Room of Questionable Normalcy I've taken to calling it, has fluctuating magic problems, a result of being part of a hub of worlds like Milliways. Aside from Mia landing in there, I didn't have anything too major in mind, just weird stuff like making it sneeze, tilt, change locations, yodel, have the walls ooze slime, things of that nature. I only thought of it as a temporary yet strange fixture that Mia needs to study in order to find a way back home. Then I thought, "Why should I have all the fun? Other people might want to play with a cool random room, plus they could probably come up with some neat stuff that it could do. Besides, if I spring something like this on the bar without telling people, I could get into a whole shitload of trouble & no one wants that. Maybe some people would think such a room is overkill, but I'm never going to find out until I ask them."

So I leave it up to you, dear patrons of the bar. Would you like a Room of Questionable Normalcy to play with for keeps or would you rather I phase it out as soon as possible?

Edit to Add: I'm taking the overall silence as a no to the idea, which is just fine with me as I've started to think it was overkill. I'll cheerfully withdraw the room as soon as possible.

Right, so-- as of the end of the Dead Man's Chest moviecanon arc and the events of this post, the Black Pearl is now anchored out in the lake, and will be remaining there for the currently foreseeable future. Although she's a bit battle-damaged at the moment, her major structure (hull, masts, sails) is essentially intact, and repairs will be forthcoming based on random IC developments over the next howeverlong.

Currently, without a longboat, the only way to get back and forth from ship to shore is to swim or use whatever magic one might have (or in Caspian's case, the Hope) to cross the water. There's also a sea-ladder of sorts (it looks suspiciously like fallen rigging) that one could use to climb aboard.

This, of course, brings me to my next point. Notice the Pearl or don't, as you and your characters prefer, it's totally and completely up to you -- but just in case any character is particularly curious, I do ask that I be notified before anyone goes trying to explore her.

The reason for this is that Jack Sparrow will be staying onboard ship, not taking quarters upstairs at the bar. Therefore, unless he's actively posted in-bar or elsewhere for some reason, odds are that he'd notice someone trying to board (even though I may not be online and so might not).

If needed, I can generally be reached on AIM at Aspenx3 or by email at aspen [at] silveraspen [dot] net, or you can leave a comment here.

Thanks, everyone!

As of this thread, there is a hand-sized circle of stained glass, a replica of the rose window in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City hanging above the Bar, catching the light.

That is all.
