Wow. That's all I can say. Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the Speaking tonight. It has been... intense to say the least. I'm going to try and muddle through it all tomorrow and see if I can get a summary up in the next day or so. However, for those of you who don't want to muddle through the Gargantuan Thread of So Much Doom, the text of the Speaking (however horrible) can be found here in Val's journal. Thank you again. We have created an OOC community for all things Harry Potter in Milliways: potter_ways. The purpose of the comm is two-fold: first, to serve as a place for the muns of HP characters to summarize and link to plots that deal specifically with the HP-verse (so our continuity is not pastede on yay), and second, to offer a place where advance plotting can be done.

The comm will be modded (though it will be relatively informal) by myself (aka clumsy_auror), muffinbutt (aka the_woodpecker), and vivien529 (aka young_tmriddle). Mostly, we'll just be approving memberships. If your canon is HP, then we'll automatically grant your request when you apply; if your canon is something else, but your character has close in-game ties to HP characters, we'd like you to give us a brief (100 words or less) description of those ties so that we know your reasons for joining are valid. Non-HP muns may post these applications in the comm's first post, which can be found here.

The three mods will also be available should you wish to preliminarily hash out a particular plot; we'll be keeping an eye on what's posted here to make sure that all the pieces fit together, and that we don't end up with conflicting or mutually exclusive plot arcs in-game.

Other Milliways people are welcome to monitor the community, but bear in mind that some of the plottiness will be spoiled if you read it in potter_ways first. :D

Well. It seems that, after a rousing round of voting, the Lake Party will be held on TICKY BOX.

Kidding.

For real. The Second Milliways Lake Party will be held on the weekend of February 5, 2005.

Now.

Here's how this is going to work.

On the day, I am going to make two posts. One will be for shore-based activities and interactions. The other will be for water-based activities and interactions. This will be where the entire Lake Party takes place. When your character is on shore, chillin, you are in one thread. If they decide to go swimming, you link to a new thread in the water post. If you leave the water to go to shore to snuggle or something, link back to the shore thread.

That way, when it's all done, it can be followed. An event this huge (bar-wide, we're hoping) requires an organized frame to contain the chaos. And I don't know about you, but I like to re-read these things, and it'll be really nice to have it all in one place and coherent.

Now. If your character chooses not to join the party, or is Out of Milliways during the festivities, the moratorium on new posts does not apply to her. He can post as he needs to.

In-Character Logistics

Later tonight, hopefully, if I can get online, Bernard will post the notice about the party. He will ask for all the magic users in the bar to volunteer to make the Lake and surrounding land summery for a couple of days. Please, feel free to volunteer, and I beg you all to not only get in touch with me, ut get in touch with each other to plot and figure out how everyone's magic can mesh best. You know your characters' abilitites far better than I do.
