So, in DT's Wizard and Glass, Hambry and Mejis seems to me much like areas of California- the citrus trees, the spanish influence on words and culture- and yes, we do have plains and hills and deserts and canyons, all by a beautiful ocean.

There's a section in Brea Canyon, near my house, that has some of the older fashioned oil derricks- the towers, as opposed to the "grasshopper" types. I took the family's digital cam out with me the other day, and took some pictures.
