Hey.

I've been waiting to make this post since about May, and now I don't quite know how to start it, so I guess I'll just launch right into it.

I am stepping down from the moderation team, effective immediately.

No, I'm not being forced out by some behind the scenes wank or conspiracy or anything really fun and juicy. I wish that were the problem, kind of. It would make a good story. I'd log in and remove all the other maintainers and replace the layout with a bunch of GIFs of the Carlton Dance and Johnny Cash flipping the finger at the camera, and get us all on Fandom Wank. It would be totally sweet!

But, alas! Sophie, Nny, Meg and I are all still really good friends and RP partners and all that, so no fears of meltdowns in the emotional structure of things.

Things Wot You May Have Questions About:

  • Yes, AFAIK, the other three are in the process of making a short list of candidates for mod-dom. Please don't run up to them all, "I WANNA MOD." If you're active, and have good diplomacy skills, and have a diverse set of friends and acquaintences within the game, you're probably being considered anyway.

  • I will still be Bar Mod, along with Karen, and my stepping down from full game mod means that she and I'll be able to sack up and really deal with the Bartending Problem and the Wait Staff and all the stuff I've been slacking on for about a year. So. REJOICE.

Honestly, I've been wanting to step down for about six months, and I'm feeling pretty okay about it -- the routine of the app stuff and the purge stuff and the grunt work of keeping things going really gets to me. Helping people, and doing stuff like moderated chats is still fun and I'll be helping people still, as Bar Mod, so. It's like moving away from the stuff that makes it not fun for me and having more time for the stuff that is fun. And that's totally sweet.

I do want to say thanks, though, for making my two-year tenure so rich. We've uh. Had our high points and low points. *grins* And I like to think that the high points outweigh the low points by far; I know they do for me.

Anyway. I'll see you in the game (and more often!), and I'm always here for advice or questions, as any other oldbie would be; I'm simply not authorized to make mod decisions anymore.

Although, seriously. The no pinging after midnight Eastern Time still stands. Seriously. Ain't nothing holding me back now.

Slowtimes!

Well, no one else has done it today that I can see, so...

El Mariachi and Ajedrez talk about many things, including live and death, histories, Culican, all to El providing the musical background.

Happy Halloween, one and all! Today's post has a decided theme, which should be obvious (hint: it starts with H- and ends in -alloween) and if it isn't, possibly you should go stare at a blank wall until you've figured it out.

-Annie Shirley dreams.
-Mac does, too.
-Wes, as well.
-Kaye and the Doctor are awake and trading innuendo.

[livejournal.com profile] sir_gareth and I had dinner a while back, and we talked Milliways, as you do. We had much fun, reminsisced, snarked, and best of all, hatched a cunning plan!

We all love evil characters at Milliways. Especially well-played evil characters who face IC-consequences and create wonderful, sometimes spontaneous, sometimes planned, plot opportunities. *cough*Blodwenplot*cough*

However, too much all-powerful evil can be a bad thing. Sauron, for example, would be No Fun at the bar, really. But evil like Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty evil? Evil like Blackbeard evil? Evil like the witch from Hansel and Gretel evil?

(And can you just imagine a candy house out by the lake? And can you then imagine Ingress and Gavroche nibbling at said house? And then can you imagine Tom (and Door and Megwyn) finding out what happens when Ingress and Gavroche nibble at a witch's candy house? Pleeeeease someone app the witch and plaaaaay with me...)

Soooo Gareth and I want to issue a challenge for the November apps. Talk amongst yourselves, think up some plotty fun - miniplot, barwide plot, what have you - and let's bring the evil on! Mine the fairy tales, folk tales, and the Disney movies and whee!

And we're not talking one time only evil, or mean ugly evil (unless you can pull it off well), or misunderstood and/or ready to be redeemed evil. JUST FUN EVIL FOR THE SHEER AND GLORIOUS ENJOYMENT OF IT!

Anyone wanna play?

Spammity!

Last night was the first time since April the bar has broken 100 posts in one day.

You know the drill, folks.

From about a week ago: Charlie McGee, who is under the influence of Band Candy, meets Archie Kennedy, who is not. The resulting conversation is oddly sweet.

What've you got?
