Mar. 5th, 2007 04:35 amFor 24-muns and and anyone else who may be interested: Everything you wanted to know about canon-puncture and the 24 pups but were afraid to ask!
Attention: Losties
Mar. 5th, 2007 02:10 pmPlease take a gander at my attempt at figuring out this canon-thing over at
casta_ways
On another though related note, Heroes-muns and Lost-muns, there was an article in the Boston Globe about the possibility of Heroes and Lost existing in the same universe. The writers of both shows have denied it, though they sounded intrigued by the possibility.
Food for thought.

Mar. 5th, 2007 03:49 pmThe giant Triplets OOM-slash-Retirement Post is up here. Everyone is free to notice Shock screeching, and for those of you that signed up, if you want to tag in pre- or post- OOM, be my guest, just ping me if you want a pre-OOM thread.
A HUGE thanks to those that participated in plot, and to those that played with Lock, Shock and Barrel while they were around- they truly enjoyed themselves, as did I. I'll miss playing them horribly, but like I said before, it would be unfair to keep them here now that 'their 'story' is done'. I'm not leaving the game completely, just letting LS&B live their lives out in some sort of weird peace.
Mods: Would it be alright if I did the "leave the community" part tomorrow? I just want to finish up some loose ends, and also, just in case I get any comments to the post.

Due to the recent kerfuffle involving the canon-puncturing mess, and certain comments - and here I mean by mods, not players - that I think went past the point of civility, I am leaving the game, effective at the beginning of next month.
I never thought I would do this, but what can I say? It's not the game I fell in love with anymore.
Edit: To clarify, the specific comment that prompted this decision was made by Sophie, not one of the other mods. I remain on very good terms with Camwyn and Meg, at least I hope I do.

For the same reasons as Val, I'd like to just announce to anyone who cares (not that most of you don't already know, I think) that as of the end of the month, I will be leaving the game. Audrey Hanson and Suzanne Astin I am going to post out of the bar within a week and will ask to be deleted (so that new players can pick them up). April Cornwell will be (for obvious reasons) retired.
Like Val said - this is not the game I fell in love with anymore. I will miss most of you, and I thank the people I've played with for the good times I've had.

clearly, it's time for tea.
Mar. 5th, 2007 09:11 pmAs I think we're all very much aware by now, there's been a lot of talk surrounding the canon-puncturing policy and how it's interpreted. It's a lot of discussion, because it's a complex issue, and it's becoming quickly evident that there are strongly-held opinions on many sides. I know I've expressed my views and concerns, as have many others, and I honestly think that the opinion exchange that's going on has the potential to be very helpful, in the end. In fact, it's already the case that the mods have agreed to revisit the issue, in light of the concerns expressed.
I think this is especially good, because being a mod is a thankless job a lot of the time, and the fact that they're willing to take even more time here to go back and work on something that they've already worked hard on because the community as a whole has some very real concerns is a sign of the quality of the modding team we've got. So, thanks for that, guys-- thanks to everyone who's a mod, and to everyone who has brought up thoughtful points that will end up helping to improve the game as a whole.
The reason I'm making this post, though, is that I'm noticing things are starting to get much more heated, and much less civil, and so I'd like to make a different suggestion.
Everyone step back, and take a breath. Maybe even have a cup of tea. (You knew that was coming, didn't you?) :) Mind you, I'm not saying to stop discussion -- never that. Just remember that there are a lot of sides to look at, and a lot of valid points being made here, and none of it should get personal.
That's all I had. Thanks, everyone.
*hops off soapbox, leaving tea and scones behind for everyone to share*

Mar. 5th, 2007 10:46 pmJust a heads-up - As soon as current plots are finished, I'm going to be retiring
ash__evildead and
thelastearthman and going request-only with the rest of my pups.
This is emphatically not a reactionary thing - I've been considering it for some time now, and, well... when staying afloat gets too difficult, it's time to get out of the pool.
It's been a wonderfully fun two years and change. If anyone wants a thread with any of my remaining pups, please don't hesitate to contact me. (AIM: GypsyJr427, email: gypsyjr(at)gmail(dot)com)

Mar. 5th, 2007 11:10 pmDEAR MILLIWAYS,
I feel, in light of Certain Things, we all need to read something. Perhaps you were here at the time, but most likely you weren't and probably don't even know it happened, so:
A long time ago, in a bar not so far away...
In the immortal words of Fleur Delacour (say thank ya, Heater):
You are at the bar at the end of the universe. It seemz all realitiez collide here. We are watching a movie that waz made about you that so some iz not real.
Lotz of people have that problem. You are not so special, so do not freak out.
Your sincerely,
Gabe-mun.
PS: hide your valuablez. I think you will be jumped soon.
ETA: Guys, I honestly don't want this to turn into an argument of any kind. It's just a reminder of how fun this game can be, and is, when we don't stress about it. Please don't turn it into anything else; take it to IMs if you insist on it.
