I want to take this moment to direct some attention to this thread, done beautifully by literallyrotten and cheevy.

Steph and Ven, you two took something that many of us can relate to, adapted it to a totally fictional situation and kept it as real as any nonfiction book I've ever read.

A friend of mine, who has never been exposed to the world of roleplaying, was going through a similar situation. I showed her this thread and said, see, this is what you have to be able to do, and she read it and she could totally relate to it and she said fuck him and I know she meant it, and it's thanks to the two of you.

So, thank you. And thank you to all the amazing players in this game who are able to do the same thing. It takes great amounts of talent to evoke such emotions in people and I am extremely proud to say that I'm a part of this group.

Do you feel as if your canon is missing something? Do you feel as if the plots just need to be that much spicier? The characters... do you think they might just be a bit drab? Flat? Too logical and interesting?

Later today, little_miss_sue will be entering the bar and she's exactly who you think she is.

Mary Sue. Yes. Her.

Wrecker of good canons, subject of some of the worst fanfiction ever written, the breaker of hearts, the destroyer of plots, the biological child of at least three of your favorite characters and sleeping with two of the others. She is as old as literature and as new as the most recent entry on pottersues, the self-insert with the power to kill all interest in a story the reader might have. And she's come to Milliways.

Three years and a few days ago, I said to myself, "Self," I said, "keeping up with theatrical_muse is getting to be a pain. Those shiny journals you rolled up are going to sit idle if you don't do a better job of keeping up with the T_M questions, which you can't do if you have to wade through the rest of the comm to find them." Fortunately, I'd discovered Milliways at least a month before; I know this because the earliest bar post I have marked as a memory is the one with the confession of Peter Pettigrew, the one that convinced me this was a place I wanted to hang out, in the hopes of deserving to hang out there.

Or maybe it didn't happen quite like that. Maybe I rolled at least one of them up with both T_M and Milliways in mind from the word go. Certainly, Strong Bad's inbox shows that I submitted apps to both comms on 15 Aug 04. (I apped MDD to T_M on August 2, Milliways on the 16th.)

Either way, three years ago today, I put my first pup inna bar. And that's why the flag on Strong Bad's golfday cake says 3#1. Now you know. Yo, Slick, blow.

Canon Sale! -- Sort of?

Well, not ZUKO'S canon; you'll pry my Avatar DVD's from my cold, dead fingers.

But I am selling off a HUGE chunk of Werewolf: The Apocalypse (mostly first and second ed. books, though a couple later ones). I know there are a few people in Milliways that collect, and figured I'd put out the notice. If you want a list of the stuff that's being sold, just ask and I'll post it in comments.

The proceeds will go to me and my honey's five-month-anniversary-vacation-of-awesome in San Francisco! :D So you're serving a good cause, promise. ;) We both really need a break. @.@
