I wanted to let people know ahead of time that I plan on opening apps for the month at midnight of 30-31 December this month. They'll stay open until midnight of 7-8 January, so you'll have a total of eight days to get apps in, rather than seven. No sense making people cling to their computers on New Year's just to get their apps in.

Thanks, folks.

The 'more than you ever wanted to know about me' version.

I went to a party Sunday night, in an area of the state I'd never been in before. I made a wrong turn and, MD being such as it is, hit a pothole at least a foot deep -- deep enough and at a high enough speed that my bumper actually hit pavement. I remained unscathed and drove home.

Yesterday morning, I turned on the heat in my car, and there was this very disquieting whirr sound. Loud and reverberating, this sound did nothing to calm my nerves about driving a car that is not-slowly approaching its final days, but the car was running so I drove to work as normal. In the afternoon I went home early because I was feeling unwell, and called ahead to make sure my brother the car guru would be home so he could take a look at it.

He woke me up fifteen minutes after I got home out of my NyQuil-inspired nap to show me the pair of chewed-up pliers he had extracted from the region surrounding my air filter, offered a 'My bad', and went back downstairs.

...How's you?

ETA: Meeting in ten minutes, be back soon. Back!

For those of you who're looking to recruit characters into existing fandoms at the Bar, or for those of you who just want to see somebody in particular in play, please allow me to suggest adding [livejournal.com profile] milli_wanted to your daily reading list! This is the community for requesting new pups or new players of all stripes and we strongly encourage you to post there if you want someone, and to check it to see if someone is yearning for a headvoice you've always secretly harbored.

Also, for those of you who would like to play somebody that's on the cast list but hasn't been seen recently, please, by all means, visit [livejournal.com profile] millidoption? That's the community for listing pups who're up for adoption by their existing muns. If you've lost the headvoice for your pup, list them there!

Meme time

I see lots of people on my mun journal flist do the 'Listing all charries' meme -- a new bent to the 'ask my characters' meme. We can ask questions, sure, but one can also take a peek at who all somebody has played, and that's sometimes amazing.

It's the one that goes:
Gather all your RP journals, list the characters and any AU versions you RP. Open the post to the public so even lurkers can ask the muses questions. Respond with that RP account.

and then requires a cut tag, because people have so many pups.

So, for the sake of completeness, why not link all your journal entries of that meme as response to this post so people can ogle each others lists, and gawp at them?

I'll start -- mine is here!

P.S.: Otherwise, I'm now gone to watch Iorek Byrnison in action, AKA see 'The Golden Compass' in the cinema -- back in a few hours.

It was my intention to post this on the weekend, but pubs happened, so I didn't. BUT in the first week of its existence, the Milliways Bar del.icio.us account gathered quite a few links:

Resources

As Cam noticed earlier, there are a whole range of OOC communities related to the bar which may be useful. It's always a good idea to have a few of those friended. I'm not listing them all here: go and browse.

The resources tag has a number of useful links, from the OOC cast and contact lists, to the IC room and staff lists (and serving schedule), to how to run a party and, of course, where to get Milliways stuff.

Plots

Two of the earliest plot summaries to be added this week was Tom Riddle vs Moiraine and Moiraine's escape from the Tower of Ghenjei. And because the Wheel of Time seems to be rich in plot opportunities, there's also the Mirrors of the Wheel, which followed on, in a sort of way, to that time when Shelley was a zombie. And talking of characters begin abnormally evil, it's also happened to Veronica Mars.

Another fun thing to do to your characters is to strip them of their power, like happened to Alanna during the Ebony Box plot, for which she had to go questing to New Loompaland, a path previously forged by Indiana Jones. Either Indy gets around a lot, or Gareth is OCD with plot summary. I suspect both. Because not only was there the time that he went to Cairo to find the Crystal of Osiris, but there was the Golden Goddesses, with Alanna and Meg. And on the subject of kick ass women, Alanna also teamed up with Goldy and Miho to retrieve a pair of swords in Milliways Angels.

Gorlim's similarity to Ruin lead to high drama in the Suit of Swords, and there was equally high drama when the 24 crew tackled Operation Shu Guang, or when the Firefly and Dark Tower people banded together to take on the Academy. Or when Charlie died, and had to be rescued from Purgatory. Being rescued from places is a popular pastime, because there was also that time when Rachel had to be rescued from Gaunt. Mel and Harth Fray rescued themselves, though, when they ended up in Hell.

But it's never all doom and gloom in Milliways, as Shelley tried to prove by organising a circus once.. Earlier this year, Hiro set the bar to making 1000 cranes in honour of his dead girlfriend. And who can forget when Music with Rocks In came to the bar?  Hopefully fewer people than forgot about poor, lost Kettch. (And Laddie, come to think of it)

And of course there's the taking-it-through-canon plots, like Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End; Veronica Mars Season 2 finale and Serenity;

Events

Some really cool things happen or have happened on a semi regular basis, such as Lake Parties, Hallowe'en, April Fools' Day, Mardi Gras, and of course, Waffles in Suite 134

And that's it for the first week! Have a good trip into nostalgia-land, and keep them coming. Thanks to Countess Karen for some organising, and anyone else whose work I missed, as well as everyone who submitted links.

Submissions

Still looking for plots, mostly. Have you been involved in any plot in your time here, that is recorded for posterity in the form of a summary, a table of contents, or just a list of memoried posts? Link them, along with anything else you think deserves to me recorded, in the comments to this post.

Summary of summaries done in a great hurry by someone not directly involved in most of the plots. So apologies for inaccurate information and vagueness. If you'd like to help gather links for the del.icio.us account, please email me at innerbrat @ gmail.com

Finished a slowtime tonight:

Andrew Wells meets and talks to Jessica Moore. Wacky fun, in the tradition of both their canons, ensues.

What've YOU finished?
