Hi, guys!

As of this post, Neville's back in the bar for a bit, because God does he need a break from canon.

However, the reason I've been keeping him out of Milliways as he moves through Deathly Hallows canon is that I really want to avoid him getting at all spoiled for what's ahead of him. Given his current situation, I think it's better that he avoid situations where he'd be tempted to ask about his future, so I'm going to have to ask that no Harry Potter characters who are post-DH (or close friends/significant others of those characters) tag him. If you're not sure if a thread with Neville and your character would be problematic or not, please ping me before tagging.

Hopefully he'll be done with DH and caught up before too much longer, in the meantime, I'm jezrana on AIM or jezrana @ msn . com if you have questions or concerns.

Anyway, this week on the Milliways_Bar del.icio.us account, I created the tag GettingStarted, designed to specifically collect those links that are important for any new player at Milliways to have a browse.

Resources

If you've been Roleplaying on LiveJournal for some time, one hopes you have discovered the wonders of Firefox and associated extensions. One of the most invaluable is LJ Login, which allows you to switch LJ accounts at the click of a mouse. For all other LJ-associated goodness, try LJ Addons, a very easy customisable extension that includes cutand thread unfolders, HTML insets, friends page checking and many more.

Sometimes there are just things worth reading to gain a sense of perspective. The rant about pretendy-funtime games is already a roleplaying legend, and really a must read for anyone who RPs online.

With tags currently unavailable for new characters, it's nice to have some way of keeping track of your characters. I use Gmail, and this week wrote up how exactly I find it great for my characters, in IB's guide to Gmail for the Roleplayer.

Plots

Canon Progression should possibly get its own tag, because it is a special kind of plot, isn't it? Here's the progression of characters through Stardust and Rogue Squadron: Phantom Affair for your perusal.

Indy just can't stop looking for artefacts, can he? The Shintay Stone contains a mini adventure with Mel in a vineyard, and a longer quest with Alanna. During his vacation time between these quests, Indy, Mel, Stampy and Cera took the elevator somewhere that wasn't quite the Great Valley.

John's one line summary of the Triage plot works best: When bad things go down on the Djose coast, Yuna is left to pick up the pieces -- but at least she has some help. Will Scarlett also takes some help with tax problems in Sherwood.

Events

There was a piano recital this week. So it's not nostalgic - I want current affairs too!

Submissions

This week I'd like to see if we can't build up the GettingStarted and resources tags. What bookmarks do you have that make your life easier? What browsers do you use, and why are they so good? If you were going to collect bookmarks and hand them to every new mun every month, what would you include? Do you have links to any really good must-read RP essays? What's good?

And don't forget, I'm always after plots: old and new: summaries, memories and ToCs or however you want to submit them, all welcome

*I wasn't sure if there was a Christmas tree to put presents under or not. If there is, yay! If not, the gifties are with Bar.

The Dutchman is in the lake. I'm heading out for the evening in two hours, and of course won't be threading tomorrow, but the post will stay open for the rest of the year, with slowtimes probably continuing afterwards.

The note, scribbled in Gothic script, says:

The ship with the organ on it is making berth on the lake now - find me, and then we can go there and play it, if the captain is willing.
