DE: I don't know, they just started following me around one day...

A previous DE asked the question, "If your pup was a god, what would be your pup's sphere of influence?" Or something like that. I have a bad memory.
Anyhow, my question is, "If your pup were the god or saint of something or other, what sort of followers, devotees, etc. would your pup tend to attract? For Amascut it is usually the insane, the desperate, and those who kill things for a living. Poor gal. But what about yours?"

Nothing's springing immediately to mind for my others, but I'll ponder it.

Because Thor.

Well, really, as dog breeds that fit Thor go, golden retrievers are waaaaay down my mental list (and puppies are, for sure), but the physical comparison is entertaining anyway. Ah, Thor.
no subject
But see, that begs the question what dog breeds you feel do fit Thor! :D
Because I'm totally not imagining Thor's possible choices for Cubefall.

Thor is a shaggy beautiful affectionate aristocratic-looking dog who is also a wall of muscle and will LEAP UP AND BITE YOUR FACE RIGHT OFF.

I apologize. It's a silly day.

Evil Chicken is somehow listed as a false god by the wikia dedicated to the game. Probably because of the altar to him placed in Zanaris by some unknown witches' coven. There is no canonical information about who the witches who did it are or why it is located in Zanaris, which is pretty much fairy central. There's a group of black dragons that also pay Evil Chicken deference. I've said before that Evil Chicken could be a god of distraction, but I don't know what is up with his/her would be worshipers. Witches and dragons? Possible fairy witches?
Fairy Fixit would very much prefer not to be worshiped or venerated. But she might attract maintainers of built systems that are missing half the documentation.

Helena, the
fatherpatron saint of science-fiction novels. She'd attract all frustrated authors, probably also casual ficcers, and anyone who loves mentally living in fantastical worlds. Devotion would include writing, plotting, creating.no subject
Not to be too picky, but wouldn't that be Matron Saint?

Just... a joke that fell flat. Oops.

ETA: And I should point out that Hank would so be one of her followers. ; D

Sunshine would be an apollo-type deity - in the way that her power would have many different little spheres of influence, all of which would fall under the provider/protector role. Abundance, bread, food, warmth, family, protection of the home, sunlight. Her primary devotees would be those who risk or sacrifice themselves for the people they care about, who would murmur a prayer for her protection as they go into danger to protect their people.
Zelgadiss would be the patron saint of knowledge seekers. Librarians and researchers, especially those seeking arcane and possibly lost knowledge, would pray to him for patience and fortitude in the face of discouraging results.

Ben Grimm would be against any sainthood due to modesty and his person religion. That doesn't mean he wouldn't have some sort of cult following at some point and given he lives to be 10,000+ years old, I have trouble believing this doesn't happen at least once. Perhaps sagehood would be a better descriptor for him. Anyway, humble beginnings, second chances and clobberin' when it's deserved would be his tenants as well as treating people as people regardless of their expressed gender, fashion, appearance or speech.
Anton Gorodetsky refused to play. But I got him drunk and now he's saying something like the Saint of Fools who get too many chances and who succeed despite of themselves.
Andrea would epitomize those who rise above their childhood.

Assuming that this include ones parents and older sister, that's a sort of thing.

Thurlow would attract followers among people who discard or ignore gender roles (and/or have nonstandard gender identities), the mentally ill, codebreakers, and oceanographers.
...From different aspects of their divinity.

OK.
Well.
This is what Gene is - a collector of people - but if someone tried to call him a god, or a saint, he'd glare at them for about a week, then force them to buy him drinks all night. Thus, he's not the most popular of guardians. He attracts coppers that have issues with the way they died, or are currently dying - they don't tend to like him much, at first. Then they either start to worship the ground he walks on (in a non-saintly way; more like they ask 'how high?' when told to jump
on someone's head), or they match him for snark and bollocks. The former are the ones that make his life easier, except when they're being too dim to be of any use (hi, Chris) - the latter are the types that help him as much as he helps them.So. In conclusion; messed-up coppers. Of which he is one himself.
...which reminds me. Hahahahaha. *writes EP*

Lois Lane would obviously be the saint of investigative reporting and of Kickass Vanilla Human Civilian Women. The kind of people she'd attract is fairly straight-forward (plus maybe people who think such people--or Lois herself--are hot).
Tavi would loathe the idea of being looked at as a god or saint of anything. Luckily for him, no race in the books is the type. That said, in the far future there's a chance he'll be an Arthurian-esque figure for Alera to at least some people-in-general.

Random guy #1: "Do you think it's bad enough that he'll come back?"
Random guy #2: "Well, we aren't being buried under [REDACTED, BECAUSE SPOILERS], so no. Probably not."

...Though now I wonder: the Canim summon eldritch abominations. Would he count?

(The subject of Satanists has come up before. They weird him right out.)
If not for the bad PR, though, he'd probably have been a minor deity - probably of lost causes or last chances. In canon, his reputation with his siblings is as the one who makes the most remote chances work for him, generally because they're the only options he gets.
My initial thought was that Molly was the goddess of sparkles, and she kind of is, but really I think she'd be the deity of runaways, those who prove just how strong they really can be.
Minerva McGonagall is obviously named for a goddess, and war and learning are definitely her two things. Although I have a fanfic about her (and Peggy Carter from the MCU) which is called The Goddesses of Broken Causes, and I feel like that also fits - when she knows her cause is right, she will keep on going and she will not stop, no matter what you do to her or how dire the odds. Like most of my pups, she's a Determinator.
Coulson's the god of overworked corporate badasses. He and Donna Noble could probably set up a nice little pantheon between them; offerings include bad coffee and those grey hairs supplicants swear they didn't have before last week's board meeting.
Raoul would be some war deity or other, or possibly the one you pray to for rescue when feeling incredibly awkward at parties.
And Edna is of course already a style goddess incarnate, dahling.

Will would be a minor god of loyalty who is part of the pantheon of Sherwood headed by Robin and Marian. His followers are clever, will do all for those they respect and have a tendency to lose their tempers. You don't want to mess with them.
Charles is the patron saint of mutants who is honored with gifts of thoughtfulness and leavings of Earl Grey tea.
Moist is a trickster god, very minor deity who would rather you didn't worship him but offerings will be taken.
William would be a minor deity of protection tied to family, of older brothers and difficult causes.
Demeter is already covered by her own mythology.
Jane is a goddess of writers, the authors who hope for a chance and to her they offer their broken pens and scribbled pages.
Sameth is a god of engineers and magicians who are brilliant but can't explain what they do. His followers honor him whenever they make a presentation that makes sense to someone else.
Tumnus is a minor god of loyalty and second chances who's followers make offerings of songs and handkerchiefs.
The Pirate King is the god of pirates of course and is honored with gold, songs and women who wish to kiss him.

Juliet: Patron saint of Quality Coffee and Cute Ponytails. Using one of those hairstyling hoops is strictly forbidden. Soccer mom central.
Dixie: Patron saint of Burlesque. Christina Aguilera is a major donor. Everyone knows the words to "Do Right Man," the hymn of choice.
Pinkie Pie: Patron saint of baking. EVERYONE MUST SHARE THEIR SWEETS. That is a rule!
