She laughs. "Is that your way of advising me on how not to be so easily read?"

"If you want to play poker with the sharks," Dr. Lecter says, "the first thing you need to know is how to hold your cards."

"That's a strange metaphor," she types, jostling the intrusive cat's tail lain across her fingers. "I'd better get some waterproof cards."

And then she winks.

"You don't trust the sharks with their own cards?" Dr. Lecter smirks.

He raises an eyebrow at the cat and its tail.

"If we let in all the cats as well, things would get interesting. I take it there is quite a number of them in the rooms behind the screens."
