Sabine would love The Wachowskis' Speed Racer (with that saturated color palette, are you surprised?), and other Wachowski films in general.

Ahsoka would like Kill Bill, Princess Bride, and other films that feature amazing sword fights and acrobatics. I think she'd love Jackie Chan's fights and also Kurosawa's flair for the dramatic.

He really would, though! A message of hope, with scrappy farm boys and princesses and smugglers taking down the Empire? Sign him up. The focus on the Jedi would be a bit annoying, since his relationship with Jedi is complicated, but he's all for lightsabers vs. stormtroopers.

Forget the prequels, though. He has no interest in sympathizing with Vader.

Just going to preface this with, after some thought, literally all of my organics would A++ adore the new Wonder Woman movie. Evelyn and Lois for Diana's strength and poise and ethics; Eriond because Eriond; Anakin for the awesomeness of the major fight and her power and how the war is shown (basically all the wrong reasons tbh); and Tavi... well, honestly for basically everything. All the themes, for her, for all the characters... yeah. I suspect R2 also likes it, but that may have something to do with "organics not being stupid in that."

Eriond enjoys all movies, although some of them make him very sad and mourn for people's cruelty to each other and be determined to change that. But I think maybe movies about kids on adventures overcoming odds might be his favorite, in as much as he is capable of favorites.

Evelyn would go for detective movies--less psychological thrillers, just good old detective movies. I think she might genuinely like noir, and definitely other detective-type movies. This is, at least based on her favorite book being Hard in Hightown. Get her in the right company and she would MST things. (... Hawke would probably enable this. Also Varric, Dorian, Bull, and Sera. Josie too. Oh god. I'm now imagining the DA:I company sitting around watching terrible movies. Help.)

Actually, Evelyn would also definitely go in for movie or TV adaptations of literature, or some historical fiction. Definitely Shakespeare. I think she'd appreciate the Firth-Ehle Pride and Prejudice a lot. Definitely Shakespeare, she loves the plays and good movies of them. I think some fantasy stuff would appeal to her, though sci-fi less so.

Lois, at this point in her life, likes giant robot movies and giant monster movies. Just imagine that her world has an equivalent of Pacific Rim and that is hands down her favorite thing ever. And she has a guilty love of whatever giant robot movie is the handwavey equivalent of Michael Bay's Transformers movies. In a few years she will develop an adoration of movies, historical or otherwise, about lady journalists, and His Girl Friday in particular occupies Best Place until a movie about Nellie Bly comes out (not one in our world, sadly), but I suspect as the giddiness of her new life wears off, the giant robot movies will return to equal love as a genre.

Also, Lois will probably be willing to MST basically anything. I am imagining her subjecting Clark to Sharknado and laughing her head off.

R2 probably likes accurate historical and science documentaries. It's a matter of "data kept is accurate and well-presented." He probably MSTs any number of movies--but no one knows that, because it's all in binary.

Anakin probably has trouble staying seated long enough for watching a movie, but in general I'd expect action thrillers. Not outright super-depressing war movies, except in a few cases. I'm tempted to say he'd like Indiana Jones--although that one scene with the swordsman leaves him torn between "shooting is the tactically smart thing" and "...you just had to? But it's not elegant. *pout*" I'm also tempted to say he likes Kurosawa--Japanese film in general probably appeals to him--and might particularly enjoy Hidden Fortress, just for the luls involved. Oh, and literally any movie about good piloting. Don't show him bad ones, though, he will 100% nitpick it.

Tavi joins R2 with the historical/scientific documentaries, and good literature adaptations (but less so of romance ones--Jane Austen is good reading but not his watching preference, or Hardy, but he'd fall into the Shakespeare camp) but he is also the sci-fi/fantasy geek and into spy thrillers and heist movies. Mind, he absolutely nitpicks everything. He is probably terrible to watch movies with, to be honest. He will absolutely enjoy it and yet completely rip away the suspension of belief over "That is terrible security protocol, no one would ever do that" and "That is not how you battle tactics, please stop" and, if he's from an AU where he has the tech knowledge, "that is not how computers work let me explain AI actually/that is not hacking what is wrong with you [inspired by CSI Cyber]/that is not how space flight would actually work the science is--/BATTLE TACTICS IN SPACE ARE NOT ON A PLANE YOU NEED TO TAKE THE THIRD DIMENSION INTO ACCOUNT" etc. It's usually mostly in good fun. He just... loves picking everything to shreds. He also likes Arthurian movies or mythology but gripes at all the bad ones--which is a lot of them!

He might even have an affection for very bad sci-fi/fantasy for just this reason. Also he totally would be an MSTer.

Pretending he's in the real world and picking some specifics: Tavi joins Lois in the Pacific Rim camp, and as far as TV shows go loves Babylon 5. He will probably go in for superhero movies too, although potentially comics or TV shows more than movies. I'm actively not noting Lord of the Rings/Hobbit despite his deep love of the books because he has complicated feelings of critique related to them.

Oh yeah. He loves Star Wars.

As for me, my favorite movie is called A Midwinter's Tale, 1995, directed by Kenneth Branagh (but he's not in it so no ego fest). I watch it at least once a year. It is a ritual. Go check it out, y'all, it is beautiful.

I'm sure all of mine would love WW, too. Sabine and Ahsoka would take so much inspiration from her.

Just pulling from what's on my own shelves here because otherwise I can't narrow anything down, and imagining I set the characters loose amongst them:

Harry Monmouth likes Master and Commander. Fighting, humor, English glory. He'd have a bit of a cry over some of the deaths, and consider that he'd had an excellent good time.

Feuilly has seen High Noon and loved it, and I think he'd be very interested in The Third Man and Grand Illusion--he'd be pleased with how the solidarity of socialism pulls together allies in Pride--but obviously The Battle of Algiers would end up getting his vote and he'd invite Enjolras over for a very very serious screening.

Ursula would love Spirited Away.

William Douglas would fall in love with Seven Samurai, especially if it was dubbed into Scots. He would find some of the characters #relatable.

Bossuet is so torn between Young Frankenstein and Some Like it Hot. SO TORN YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. He's gonna make Joly watch them both a bunch of times, with My Beautiful Laundrette sandwiched in there for something a little more serious. Aaaand then maybe they'd settle on Casablanca.

Mary of Guelders would certainly enjoy the Cocteau Belle et la Bête...and I think Djehuty would end up joining her there, although he might settle on Totoro in the end. Some of the other movies are just a little too stressful for him.

Miguel has a lot of fun with The Man Who Would Be King. Later, somewhere in South America, he wonders why he kept getting this weird sense of déjà vu.

Gredya doesn't approve of watching movies.

Loki has a great time going through them all. He laughs at all the scenes in Thor and Avengers where Thor falls for his illusions--i mean seriously brother, every.single.time?--and skips the ends of both. Chinatown is a hit, as is the original Peter Cook/Dudley Moore Bedazzled; he can dig Rashomon; Dark City is fun...and then he just goes back and watches Thor fall for his illusions again.

I'll start with the ones that have movies and then go to the others.

Quentin canonically watches horror movies, they're at times really helpful for dealing with everything he puts up with as Toby's squire. I think he likes sci-fi movies, not so much action movies.

Charles when he was younger had a serious crush on Frank Sinatra and still kind of does and loves all of his movies. He prefers slightly more serious movies like ones from plays but he likes being in a movie where everyone's happy, its refreshing.

Cassian and I think a lot of the Rebels when they were younger probably watched a lot of stupid action holovids but now he can't watch them without critiquing what's wrong. Also his mind's set for intel gathering so he tries to sort out the plots of things. He would like I think silly rom-coms for the mental break but a good action movie could be fun and he'd avoid war and spy movies.

Sameth knows about movies as Ancelstierre kind of matches up a little with England in the 1920s and enjoyed the action movies. I think he'd love sci-fi films and they'd give him so many ideas. Fantasy movies would make him kind of go, but that's not how it works.

Will S. has seen a number of movies in Milliways and likes action movies but he's not a big fan of movies in general, they're cool but not his favorite.

William enjoys movies based on books and is the kind of person who will point out everything that changed and when horse stuff is wrong.

Ivan has a soft spot for overly romantic action movies about Barayarran history, he and Miles grew up on those. Now it depends on who he's watching with, he prefers his movies not too complicated or political too close to home.

Moist, hm, I think he'd enjoy heist films for the ideas and monster movies for the fact that its really satisfying to see the nightmares of your childhood taken down.

Demeter likes movies that make her laugh and with happy relationships.

Tumnus would love comedies and glorious fantasies.

Sahaal has watched a lot of films since coming to Milliways, and his favourite would probably be Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, because it's just like nothing in his home universe, and it provides a glimpse into an absolutely crazy world with no real sense whatsoever, which allows him to escape. He also likes Serenity, although he thinks it's a documentary, Dr Strangelove, because it encapsulates how he imagines the mortal leaders of the Imperium to act and fits with his dark sense of humour, and Reservoir Dogs, which is one of the few action films he'll actually watch. It's really hard to watch blockbusters when you can pick apart all the mistakes in the action scenes, but for him, the storytelling makes up for it.

Emcee loves Charlie Chaplin, James Cagney, and Marlene Dietrich, and pretty much just the whole pantheon of silent and Golden Age of Hollywood actors and actresses. His favorite movie of his time is Der Blaue Engel with Dietrich and has canonically cosplayed as her >_> He hasn't seen many (any? I can't remember what I've written) movies after his time, but he'd be a big fan of The Thin Man series (he'll get to see the first one in the theater once he reaches New York), screwball comedies, and gangster flicks. And he'd love modern day movies. Like, everything. Except probably gory horror movies.

Speaking of horror movies, Pam has watched every vampire movie ever made. Whichever ones that have lesbians in it are her favorites.

I think Floki would like adventure/fantasy movies with lots of action and quests and supernatural elements. He'd totally be into Lord of the Rings, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and The Mummy (the Brendan Fraser one).

Pearl seems to struggle with the concept of fiction. Her favorite film would probably be some scrupulously accurate documentary. Something by Ken Burns maybe, probably about a war.

Djehuty is always up for binge-watching documentaries.

Jay's a bit of a nerd. Not that he'd ever let on. The original trilogy of Star Wars is his favourite ever. Indiana Jones, except for Crystal Skull. He refuses to acknowledge that ever happened.

Sinric would love movies about travelling, especially those films that show a culture from an outsider's point of view. Last Samurai, Silence, Dances with Wolves, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
