We are all Role Playing GEEKS. *proudly*

Therefore, what's the oddest thing you've had to research, for your character?

I ask, because I was just looking up Tudor styles. And I had to once find out when waffles were invented. So... um, yes. What all have you looked up?

Please to be replying here, and all that. <3!

Well, I finally gave in. I switched screen names from the one which I'd been using for ages and didn't like, to a new one, which I actually like. I am now quiverby on AIM. Please to be updating lists accordingly if you care. :) And, well, my buddy list is still dead, so if you love me, IM me. Thanks muchly.

Sorry to everyone I meant to thread with yesterday, especially [livejournal.com profile] guppy_sandhu -mun, [livejournal.com profile] gil_whimple -mun and [livejournal.com profile] iamnotstorm -mun.

I fell asleep on my sofa and ended up sleeping around the clock. That sometimes happens when I've chronically skimped on sleep for a while, and is, actually, entirely good for me.

However, I regret having missed the entrance of Brother Cadfael, whose canon AS has been reading for a while now...

Now RL claims me loudly and urgently, so I shall return tonight, my time (and Guppy-mun's), to live, play another day, and post my Monday to [livejournal.com profile] ways_news_net , which I personally find a brilliant way of doing the summary thing.

By the way, is there a chance to get WNN on the link list of the bar and the backroom? That would help.

Yes, I'm still on vacation. *shifty eyes*

My cord for my laptop though? Deeead.

This isn't so much a problem for now.

The problem comes when I get home. And Dell will not ship me a new cord until next Tues, which won't get to my home until Thurs, because they're bastards they're slow.

So. The problem comes with the Delirium plot. *twitch*

As a result, the OOM of ULTIMATE DOOM that was going to be posted onna 3rd MAY have to wait, depending on when I can steal someone else's computer.

...Which I canot tell anyone UNTIL late-ish on the third itself. >< However? Just let your pup go, um. As your pup was supposed to go.

Another note--the e-mail with the information? Yeah. On the laptop. That's dead.

*more twitching*

You know what you wanted to happen to your pup(s). Make something up if you have to. (Colour-changing is always of the good, as is new and interesting body parts. *is vague*)

With the pups, again--Del is doing her plottishness, Lucy is being Lucy-like in a state of Zen, Sunny is being angsty, and Kitty, um. X-Men-thingies that have her outta a bar much. In fact, Kitty will not be in a bar from today until whenever I get back online with stability at all. *firm nod* Yah. *goes to do OOM thingy like that* *is KINDA frazzled, can y'all tell?*

I am, that is. Totally insane.

Going to try and do a public service here, gasp. And ... well, the, what, 2 muns who were in MESPT before Milliways besides me will remember that MESPT also tried to do this.

Just for the sake of organization, and if people want to avoid doubles (or if they want to embrace them, like the Braffalikes and Nefret and Penny Lane) ... want to comment with the PBs of all of your characters so I can organize them?

Because I'm insane?

Thanks.

ETA: The beginnings of the insanelist are here. Don't comment there, though, kay? Thankee.

First off, thank you to everyone who has volunteered. I'd dearly love a few more, but thank you so very much to all the volunteers thus far.

Second, would those of you who have volunteered please check your community invitations page? You can find that here. Also, please, please email me (as almightyhat at yahoo dot com) or comment with the contact information I requested-- I'm trying to put together a master list of who's who where to see how the bar is covered. I need your name, your reporting LJ, the canon or division you're volunteering to cover, your email, and your AIM name.

Thanks for your time!

I am now free from exams :). Tonight I am going to see G4 in concert so will be back late. If I am too late to come online, apologies to Gil-mun, Behrooz-mun, Suti-mun and Jack-mun who I have slowtimed threads with.
Between Friday and next Wednesday I will be rehearsing for/being in a performance of Oklahoma, so depending on what time I get home, might be on late/not at all some days. Then three days later I'm off on holiday in Jersey for two weeks with no net access, back for one day then off on Guide camp for a week in Wales, with no electricity, let alone a computer. After that will have lots of time for RPing. I haven't decided where Guppy will be yet. I'll probably send him off somewhere nice and sunny.

I think one of the most fabulous things about this game is being able to play scenes with characters who would ordinarily never ever EVER be together even in the most utterly cracked crossover fanfic.

Here is the example that blew me away. Good players are not only talanted storytellers in their own right, they often have an effect on the characters they interact with. I have found this to be so time and time again, in online RPGs and LARPs (interestingly, also Vampire: the Masquerade -- mortisbelle's canon). And sometimes two characters will end up with an unexpected chemistry that amazes everyone involved. I haven't spoken to this mun, but I for one am impressed by how that scene evolved. A really good scene is the result of combined effort -- the most credit I can take on fox's behalf is for having written the words down. It was the interaction that provided the opportunity for those particular words to come together. Which is to say -- my definition of a truly great RP scene is one in which the characters or the muns learn something they wouldn't have come up with WITHOUT that interaction. Therefor I bow humbly to whatever Muse my partner had, for that is the force truly responsible for fox's 'wisdom.' I could not have written that without her giving the cues.

I've had the fox in a few threads tonight, all of which are SO much fun, but this one really stands out to me. I've played some intense characters (Gorlim is a study in several kinds of psychosis in his own right), but I've never had a character break me within the first three hours of his existence. That is exactly what this scene did. In a good way, mind. Like the sex scenes in "Shakespeare in Love" :D Only without the sex.

I'm curious what other scenes people have done where something really amazing happened as the result of being able to play outside your fandom? I'm sure it happens fairly often around here. Come pimp your cyber Muse sex. This phenomenon intrigues me.

Everyone commenting at the Delia trial, I don't suppose you could scuttle over to [livejournal.com profile] tortallways, could you?

Thank you, my darlings.

Until midnight. Please tag there and not Eddie's earlier thread.

And lo, the auspicious day is upon us:

Milliways is one year old.

To celebrate, here is my offering... a timeline of some highlights of the Milliways experience thus far. It is by no means exhaustive, though I've taken suggestions from many of you, for which I am eternally grateful. Do feel free to leave other milestone threads in the comments of this post. Share the love, everyone.

Meeeeeeeemories, misty watercolor meeeeeeeemories... )

Finally, let me just say -- as a mod, as a player, as a friend... thank you, all of you. You have made Milliways Bar what it is, and I am proud to be a part of it, and I am proud to know all of you.

Rock on, Milliways.

So Shelley and Asmodean were having yet another million-mile long slowtimed thread... and then stuff happened in it, so I present a brief summary.

Yay Doom! Or something like it, anyhow. )

(And no, I have no clue why Shelley and Asmodean are able to have such long talks so easily. It's entirely illogical considering she dislikes and is pretty scared by him, and he thinks she is pitiful, if vaguely amusing.)
