From Esther: Since app season is coming up, how many people here have pups that are the only ones from their canon?

Tom Sawyer is the only one from his canon. Which makes it harder for me to ever enter him than I thought it would when I first apped him. D:

I'm apping Gokudera Hayato (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayato_Gokudera) from Katekyō Hitman Reborn! in this go-around. Because nothing says 'bar material' like a shonen retard who's literally a human smoking bomb. :D

I CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE HIM OMG. He'll be the only one from his canon too, but that's okay, cuz it works better with him. And I might be getting a Yamamato later. >3

Riley was the only one from National Treasure for, uh -- a year and a half? Actually, even more than that, I think; IT WAS A LONG TIME OKAY. But now I have two canonmates, a definite third being apped this month (I am not apping him, but does it still count to say that I am ZOMG SO EXCITED for Ian Howe to be approved?), and a possible fourth being apped ... sometime. I need to check with the mun to see if she's still interested.

Maya is one of only two in from The Red Star, but the rest of mine have a number of canonmates, even if I, you know, play half of the M*A*S*H characters (literally). I'm not apping anyone this month, because I can't. D: The ten-character limit is wise, but makes embracing new obsessions v. difficult.

Marian has around four canon-mates, even if only Marian and Guy show up with any regularity.

Allie is the only person in her canon.

Lyta who I have not EP in forever is another not-only-canon-person but her other canon people haven't been shown up in bar that same forever.

All my others have definite canon mates.

Archy is a lonely canon, but I wouldn't want to ask for a Mehitabel or other character from Don Marquis unless I had more time to play. Which is always the rub, isn't it?

1941!Jack is not the only Torchwood character but it sure feels that way sometimes . . . la la la . . .

Green!Jack is the only deity left who's not Greek, I think.

None of my pups are lonely, but on the other hand, none of the Bondpups we have now are Bondpups Timmy James knows from his canon, so he's semi-lonely?

Inigo is the only still active Princess Bride character (there's been a Vizzini and a Buttercup in the past), and I've always thought I would play him SO MUCH MORE if I had, say, a Fezzik or a Westley to play off of. Just, y'know, if anyone's looking to add a giant or a man in black to their character roster.

Alice might be the only one from her canon as well? I know we've had a Cheshire Cat in the past, but he may have been retired/deleted.

Bev is the only one from It, though she is still from the same multiverse as other Stephen King characters. If anyone ever wants to app, say, Ben Hanscomb or Bill Denbrough? This is me looking cute.

However, I'm going to save most of my begging energy for Laurence, who is still the only one from the Temeraire books. To which I say: ANYONE, but first and foremost a Temeraire. If I keep badgering everyone I know who's read the books long enough, I figure I've got to find someone who wants to play him. A Jane and/or Emily Roland, a John Granby, or anyone else would be welcomed with open arms, as well, but playing Laurence without Temeraire just feels weird.

As I've said before and will probably keep right on saying until somebody does something about it, md_donighal is the only pup from his canon (White Wolf's Trinity Universe games). I'm thinking of bringing in another one, but not until May, and only if nobody apps her in the meantime. (If you know the TU, specifically Aberrant, that ought to tell you who she is.)

Of the other canons I threatened people with almost a year ago, I'm still contemplating the two Eddings series, BLEACH, Doctor Who (a specific pup, female last I heard), Men in Black, Miracle of Science, the Pretending Races (heart8's proprietary world, home of Sonja Blue and the rest), and Star Wars. To that list, add Scion (White Wolf's storytelling game trilogy about young godspawn finding their destinies, living the myths and embracing their fates).

Most of my pups are lonely. This is probably a good thing because I rarely have time to play them as it is - there are several that are severely neglected.

I would give a lot for a Brian from Queer as Folk though (US version).

And I would list the others but LJ is being a drunken whore and has eaten my post twice.

I think Horatio might be the only Hamlet pup who's active? Even if I'm so lazy with him that he only barely qualifies for the name. Might be completely wrong, though.

Momiji has four canonmates who're apped, but he and Kyo are the only ones who are active in Bar, so he's almost a lonely canon-pup.

But Ganymede and Dahlia both have canon-company in spades, relative to the number of significant characters in their canon, so, they're quite happy.

As for new pups: I'm not apping anyone new until I start being good and giving my non-Momiji pups the Bartime they deserve. >.>

On a more random note, if there's any anime I'd really like to see represented in-bar (and I understand Milliways had a few from it way back), it's Ranma 1/2. It's a retro '80s anime (they were a lot less pointy back then), and has canonically cracky characters, canonically cracky relationships, and canonically cracky gender-bending and animal transformations. :Db

...I'm also surprised there are, if I understand correctly, pretty much no active H2G2 characters in bar... considering, well, yeah.

Technically Will is the only one from his version of canon and that's fine with me, but need more Pirates of Penzance characters.

Its Victorian crack starring Kevin Kline, I would adore a Ruth or Frederic and a Major General would probably make the Pirate King yell lots but it would be wonderful.

Tilda and Raz are both canon-lonely, and I doubt either of them is ever going to get that remedied.

In fact, I have never actually played a pup in bar who had canonmates. Ostensibly I play Lionel Luthor, but until I get my season one DVDs of Smallville back that's debatably factual.

I'd give anything for a Totila or an Adalgoth, but people would have to read the damn canon for that, and even though a current English translation exists and is in print and easily available, I can't expect anybody to actually read it. It is so 19th century. I don't want anybody's brains leaking out their ears from the pain that stilted, artificially antiquated language would cause any modern reader.-

Most of mine are either lonely pups or haven't met their canonmates, Al being the exception.

Antony's going to have a canonmate once RL scheduling works out enough to thread (but if anybody's interested in playing Cleopatra, from any version of canon at all, they'd earn a lifetime supply of pixel baked goods, because cross-time love triangles are glorious. And anyone else would be fun too.

Neric having a canonmate would mess with his head pretty badly. Rebecca and Squirrel will probably tag along with other people's canons (so if any other lonely pups want company, there you go).

And if there are any other Norse or Germanic mythology/folklore types, Weyland would love to meet them, for fireworks and/or stalking (especially Valkyries or swan maidens, but he's not picky. Yay for other pantheons).

My planned pup this time around will be readily borrowable into other people's canons, too.

Oh man. I am such a Cleopatra fangirl, though I only know her from history rather than Rome or any such sources. If I had any spots for apping, I'd totally consider, but as I don't, happy hunting! I hope you find one!

Neither of my pups are lonely by virtue of being from the same canon. And I know that there are theoretically other SGA-pups (and even SG-1, which is technically the same canon), but I haven't seen any around...

I keep having ideas for other characters to app, but no one I'm so in love with that I can't wait to see how I do with just the two first.

I don't think I have any canon-lonely characters, actually. I tend to app ones either in conjunction with other people, or in canons where I already have friends playing; one thing I have noticed as a theme in my characters is that they tend to have at least one very close friend or family member (who's also a played character, however active or not.)

I have been vaguely thinking that if I ever acquire another character it would be fun to try one without canonmates, and have a sandbox to myself. Heaven knows when that'll happen, though. I don't give enough time to some of my existing characters, and so I really don't need another.

Two of my pups are de facto alone.

We used to have an Astarael, a Kibeth and a Lirael (do we still?), but now Yrael's pretty much the only one from his canon, which is a shame. He's even getting new canon, in a couple of years!

As for Zelgadiss, we did have a Lina way back when, for a very brief time. Same with Xelloss. Two posts and gone. *sighs*

Okay, the Gethenians are not TECHNICALLY the only ones in their canon -- there is a Genly, however his mun is in college and has precious little time to play. Which is totally understandable. But that book has so MANY characters who'd be really neat to mess with -- there's a mad king, a psychotically violent prime minister, there's Falx the Foreteller who reminds me of an androgynous Galadriel, there's Ashe the soap opera reject, there are two short stories from this same world that feature the first king ever to reign twice and travel through time, and another featuring an adorable teenager named Sov from one of the lower social ranks (in the book, you really only see much of how the nobles live)... there are commensals of Orgoreyn and random people in camps and on busses, and two unnamed children of my own pup... The only person I'd be hesitant about anyone apping would be Arek, Therem's brother and lover.

But I digress.

Wha I'd really, REALLY love to see would be more pups with poetry canon, like Miniver. I love poetry -- I write it prolifically, read it obsessively, and I think there's just SO much possibility for characters whose canons are sketches and moments and whatnot. Bias is granted -- I love playing characters with very little canon and figuring out who they are through that keyhole. But it's one of those things I do that I wish someone else would so I don't feel like such a freak. ;3 I could even provide poems!

Sally (madetomend is the lonely Nightmare Before Christmas character, now that Lock Shock and Barrel were retired. (I WOULD LOVE YOU GUYS FOREVER AND EVER UNTIL THE EARTH BURNS UP AND WE ALL DIE IF JACK SKELLINGTON WERE TO BE APPED.)

Lenny Inchpot mop_jockey is the lone pup from The Cat Who... canon, and funny thought: I had a dream a few months back that somebody apped Yum Yum (female cat from canon) and Milliways had a cat!Yrael/Yum Yum wedding.

Renfield soulburden is the only Dracula canon pup, and the mun would not mind if he had a cat some mates to play with.

Raistlin is alone. There are no body else from his canon, and that's probably a blessing.

Zuko might as well be alone sometimes, as all of the Gaang is gone 'cept for very rare appearances by Toph, and the Fire Nation Angels are sporadic at best ('cept for Mai, who is always contactable).

The rest-- I think they all have canon mates... though most of them are very inactive (See: Tyrion Lannister - he has Jon and Sansa, who are rarely posted, due to the snail-speed of canon coming out) if they are there.

Homestar and Farley both have canon mates. Well, Farley has a sort-of canon mate in Janet Weiss. They're both in the same gap between the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Shock Treatment, it's just that she's not married to Brad yet and, if Farley gets his way, never will be.

Mia has no canon mates, though some people who are familiar with the game series have threatened to app her former love interest, Nash Rumack, in order to make her Milliways relationship with Draco messier. I've considered apping Nash as well, as I've found that his voice is pretty strong in my head. I guess he'd have to be in order for Mia to be able to relate to him realistically in OOMs. I've also thought about apping her mother, Lemia Ausa, but that's more in the context of her needing something to do with her time now that she's retired instead of really having her voice in my head.
