jackdawson and he hasn't poked back! And I'm bored over here! (Tried to figure out who the RPer is - someone in my timezone, as far as I can tell - but to no avail.)
Whoever you are, I quite understand if you are/were busy, considering I've had work on most of the Threadzilla nights. But this promises to be an interesting setup; I think once Jane recovers from the shock, she might have fun talking to him. Artist talk, and all.

Happy Hour at Milliways' for the night of the 2nd:

Dionysus starts up happy hour at Milliways since Sirius can't be found, and Bernard is *cough* occupied otherwise. It's been a while since Dionysus has hosted the bar [damn
you RL!!], but he enjoys it immensely. That, and the special drink of the
night is sure to draw people...

Queen Titania (

proud_titania) stops
by for a drink or two, and she and Dionysus talk of dancing with the bacchae, while Tim (

timsbooks) finds his mom again...but isn't too happy about it.

Meanwhile, Megwyn (

not_a_horse) orders some water and food, and
nearly flips out when she finds out where she is, but Dionysus manages to calm things down a bit.

Tim (

timsbooks) decides to
try one of Dionysus' drinks, with rather cute and slighty sorrowful results.

Holden Caulfield

be_holden tries to get
an alcoholic drink, but is much dismayed when Dionysus says
"nuh-uh!". He does, however, get his cigarette lit via
a nifty little trick, and goes off to enjoy music with Lady Tere (

musical_muse).

The biggy is the long conversation between Moraine (

blue_ajah) and Dionysus, wherein she tries
one of Dionysus' drinks, then rather accidentally finally asks
Dionysus exactly what he is. Whoops. Fortunately, nothing explodes, and the two part on good terms.

Dream (

lord_of_dreams)also manages to spark a bit of nostalgia in Dionysus. And Glorfindel (

glorious_figure) and Dionysus talk about the hardships of long life.

So. There's this whole Thom learning how to draw plot. Jane, being a fairly talented artist herself, can't help but get involved, and wants to start giving him tips since he's obviously new at this.
Problem: I'm a writer, not an artist. MOM'S the artist. She's out of town, would be asleep now anyway, and prolly wouldn't understand why I was asking her all this stuff when I wasn't making one of my side attempts at drawing.
Fortunately, Thom's RPer IS an artist. So she's been fact-checking and otherwise giving me advice so I don't post the wrong thing. ::is really, really glad she finally broke down and got YM::
I'm better at color theory, I swear. It's the actual drawing wot gets me down...

copinggoggles here, posting from the spiffy new Milliway's Mods lj. Innit neat? Anyhoo. Listen up, all. I've just carted the community cast list over from its previous location and, since

villainny and I both have access to this account, this means that the list can be updated much more frequently and much faster than beforehand. To kickstart this, I want everyone to go and check the list. If your character is not on it, leave a comment stating your character's name, fandom, and journal.

At some point, I may make the effort to move the Milliway's Directory over as well, but that's another challenge for another day.

Uni computers won't let me log in to gmail.

I can't afford merchandise until I've cleared my rent.

I have a back/neck ache from the bloody evil chairs, and my flatmate bruises when she gives neck rubs.

Previously on Milliways:

Raphael has been experiencing some insomnia, do his yesterday was really Sunday night. In an effort to stop the insomnia, he headed to the bar in search of hot cocoa, only to find the bar burned. Speaking of "burned", he also met Thom. (I should probably feel sorry for that, but I'm currently too tired to care. ;-) )

The next morning, he meets Van Helsing. They talk a little shop, and Raph sets the guy on his way to finding his ever so Darkwing Duck-esque hat. That is quickly followed by a very delightful conversation about the nature of Milliways with Ulfin. Also advice is offered.

At some point, Raph goes out to the lake for a swim, when he returns he's got a craving for a stereotypical favorite: Pizza, but he's confused by the "Take Away" note left by Gil. Thankfully both Tim Hunter and John Crichton are there to help. The pizza never actually gets ordered though, because John's snark gets him in to a bit of trouble. In true Raph style, starting trouble only causes more trouble for himself. Raph tells Tim why his shell is pink and yellow, and reveals that he's holding Angelina Johnson's wand hostage. Tim offers to return Raph to his original state. Raph agrees, and is made purple and lime green for his troubles. Wizards!

Before leaving for the evening, Raph spots Elizabeth sleeping in the bar. He tucks her in, wishes her a good night, and heads to be himself.

I was driving to work this morning, and for whatever reason took a slightly different route from my usual. In the process, I passed through an older area of downtown, where there are several shops, bars, etc. to be found in historic brick buildings.

Today, there was something new.

One of the buildings now has several painted statues attached to the front of it, close to life-size, at different locations on about five floors. They're about equally split between golden-haired, white-winged angels, and dark-haired, black-winged devils, in a variety of positions.

Being understandably startled, I slowed down to get a better look, and then saw the giant sign in the ground floor window, with an antique-style image and large gold and black letters that read: MUSE.

Either I'm subject to sleep-deprivation induced hallucinations, or the world is a very strange place all by itself these days, or this community is spreading faster than we thought. Mods? Anything you want to tell us? ;)

Anyway, I'll try to get pictures tomorrow-- for the sake of my own sanity, if nothing else-- and will post a link if anyone's interested.

'Lo all. I stumbled into Milliways recently...

I feel like saying hi, and whoring myself out a little. Todd already thinks the bar is full of weirdos and old fogeys. Are there any other characters his age around to play with? :}

Also, I'd love to be involved in some mischief. I'm not entirely used to Milliways' format, so it seems like throwing that out here is good enough. If this doesn't work, I guess I'll have to resort to drastic measures... Heh.

Oh yes. I was also wondering if people take the RP off of LJ. To MU*s, or AIM, or e-mail... That's something else I'd like to do.

Ever since that thread a while ago discussing the music people listened to while RP-ing or associated with various characters/ships/stories/whatever, the idea has been taking root in my mind. And, you know, it's feasible. It really is. So I'd like to know what people think of

The Milliway's Soundtrack Project

What I'm proposing is, essentially, the creation of a Milliway's soundtrack. Or, rather, a score and a soundtrack. I'd make a post to which players would reply suggesting tracks for inclusion. Then, we'd need kindly souls to volunteer webspace on which to store these tracks for download. The mp3s or wavs would be distributed amongst these volunteers via the magic of IM file transfers and uploaded. Once I'd collected all the links, I'd make a new post with the track listings, instrumental/choral type tracks going into the score, and songs into the soundtrack.

So, what's the general public opinion on this?

So, I've come to realize, these past few weeks of RPing Tonks, that there's lots we don't know about her in canon. That's fine -- more leeway for me, in terms of playing her.

But one big thing we don't know is what house she was in at Hogwarts. This is a pretty important distinction in the Potter-verse, and it's got me thinking. I've pretty much avoided making any direct references, but I thought I might ask you all what your opinion is, and go with the majority. I myself am leaning towards either Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, but feel free to try and persuade me otherwise. Cos, you know, it's fun. :)

Billy arrives, looking tired. Jenny trips over him, then buys him a drink to apologise.

Meanwhile Hob appears, and asks the six million dollar question about Jamee. Billy confesses, in a roundabout way, what he and Jamee got up to. Billy attempts to let Hob know how important he is, and puts his foot in it.

Joe arrives. Billy is not coping well. Billy forbids Joe from talking to Hob, and Paul is unimpressed.

Joe tries to talk to Billy, who remains unimpressed even when Joe admits guilt! *gasp*!. He pleads tiredness and stomps off.

Hobe goes to Billy's defense and th two start arguing. Joe is decidedly harsh to Hob, and claims his territory.

There is, sadly, a distinct lack of anything explicitly sexual.

Ulfin comes down for breakfast and is approached by a sleepy Regulus, who learns that Ulfin is a servant, introduces him to coffee, and finds out when he's from. They talk a little more, then run out of things to say.

Krycek then shows up to ask if they know where he can get a room. He and Ulfin discuss whether the bar is the afterlife, briefly touching on the previous night's fiery events. Regulus and Krycek discuss the oddities of the bar, then Krycek leaves in search of a comfortable place to sleep.

Raphael arrives, says hello to Ulfin, then finds out why Regulus looks familiar. He and Alex call each other 'Turtle' and 'Monkey' and sound each other out a little. Raph and Ulfin then talk about coffee.

Finally, Rodya shows up, on his way to see Gil with ice cream. He and Ulfin talk about hot toddy and mead, then he realizes his ice cream has melted and runs away.

Gathering links and html-ing them into my post always takes me ages, so my summary is short.

On sunday, Eddie finally meets Roland again, and Eddie is happy to have his Dinh back. They talk about Milliways, about coffee, about Paul's 'death prophesy' for Eddie (which still amuses the hell out of Eddie-mun) and why it's alright to be in Milliways instead of searching for the Tower. Eventually, they wander off to exchange more stories in private.

Yesterday, Eddie has a brief conversation with Meg. Poor Meg has lost a day, and Eddie tries to help and calm her.
Eddie also talks with Paul again. They have a pleasant conversation o_0. Main topic are trains and their names. Of course, Eddie has a few stories to tell. They end their conversation on the note of 'popsicle'.

There are more more or less short involvements in other threads, like during the first appearance of Dr. Gottreich, but others have already given good summaries of those happenings.

The current status of Eddie-mun:
a)Sleep? What sleep?
b)Still in love with Paul-mun.

Quick summary of Hob's post from last night, here.

Anthy comes over and asks Hob what he would do if she killed Billy. Hob says he doesn't know, and tells her it's private. After some small talk, he mentions he thinks they should get a goat. There is clearly about to be crack, until Hob notices Billy across the bar and leaves.

In the next thread, Paul comes over, ostensibly to see if Hob's recovered from the attempted exorcism. They snark. Hob admits he likes Paul. The Doc comes over and is creepy at Hob before vanishing abruptly. Rather randomly, Paul refers to himself as Irish coffee, and in the strike-outs asks Hob to kiss him. Cos he's Irish. Um. Yeah. Anyway, he's clearly bothered by being what he refers to as "colored." He thinks it makes him sick. Hob says there's nothing wrong with him. Paul vanishes.

Down in the last thread, Paul acts like a kitten at Anthy. She asks if he's a cat, and he tells her he's a shark [shaaaaaaark oooooooh it's a shaaaaaaark...BADGERS!]. He tries to get his hair in her pocky and fails.

Since it is all scattered about, a summary of yesterday.

It all starts fairly calm as Fleur and Lady Tere sit and talk. Fleur mets Hamlet and is surprisingly not violent. Fleur then has a panic attack because Van Helsing smells funny. She introduces herself very polite to Tonks and hides under table. She mets Tom, only panics a little more and they talk family to break the ice. There is only one limerick. Once calm is restored, Fleur-mun pulls things out of her ass when Tom asks about Paris. Life is good. Bernard shows up and things get angsty before they get mushy. It just is sexual. They then disappear to go be naughty.

Lyra Silvertongue is about to leave Milliways, permanently, to go build the Republic of Heaven in her own universe. The process will involve creating a Specter, a sort of bloblike evil thing that eats adult souls. Angels can defeat them, and some ghosts can fight them on an even level (feel free to decide whether your ghost is one of them) and I have the suspicion that a Patronus Charm might be quite effective. ETA (because I stupidly forgot to make the specific request the first time): I'm looking for people with magic to fight this Specter.

My friend Stanley made a Crowley-face on my bulletin board out of thumbtacks while she was helping me pack the other day. Yesterday, I made a thumbtack Aziraphael-face right next to him. Just now, I made two little thumbtack hearts next to their faces.
