So, due to the plottings of Meg-mun, Tere-mun, and I, we have come up with some silliness for the bar. Tomorrow night (the 15th), the bar will be giving out cards with drinks. These cards state certain things that the reciever of the card mus to, or the bar will not serve them. The bar has a nice sense of humour, and Val and Meg are quite persuasive when they want to be. So, to make a long story short, if you would like to participate in bar silliness, please comment to this post, and Meg-mun, Tere-mun, or I will get back to you on what your card says. If you don't really want a card, have fun RPing with the people who -do- get the cards. Wheee!
Sep. 15th, 2004
Bernard begins his day by posting an employment notice. Many, many, MANY people apply.
Later, he starts Happy Hour. The menu is delectable, as usual, and Bernard-mun was very sad that so few people partook. :(( Also of note is the fact that he asked the patrons to settle up their tabs.
Todd approaches the bar first, and is startled to see that he's racked up a whopping $214.65. Hey, man. You eat, drink, and occasionally sleep there all the time. It's not the Ritz, but it's not free either.
Tonks approaches and congratulates Bernard on a Happy Hour well done. They banter a bit and he serves her a drink that I have had. Awesome how that works out.
Tim wanders over and orders some food. He also asks about the bouncer job, and is hired. He's really cute about it.
Crowley saunters up and gives Bernard the Neon Bra of Angelic Mortification. Between Crowley, Bernard, Fleur and Tonks, they decide to hang it above the shrine.
Fleur also saunters up to the bar, and gives Bernard a kiss and a brief pep talk.
Valentine Wiggin asks about a job, and is hired as a cocktail waitress. She orders some hibiscus tea, and the bar gives her shortbread to go with it -- it likes her already.
Penny approaches about a job, but Bernard is iffy because he's already hired Val. They have a brief conversation about Bernard's adjustment to being bartender, and Bernard finds out belatedly about the relationship between Penny and Raph. He is amused and pleased.
Del comes over and pays Wensleydale's tab with a word. Literally. Hey, it made sense at the time. Bernard also recognizes her vaguely, and she knows him. :>
Anthy gets some rose tea, converses with Bernard about gardening, and is promoted to Head Cocktail Waitress. They also discuss the possibility of Luke working in the greenhouse, and it seems like he could have a spot if he wanted it.
Finally, Sirius approves. XD \:D/
At the end of the night, Bernard happily goes out to join Fleur at the lake. Ahem. Fade to black.

ATTN: ALL - MOD POST
Sep. 15th, 2004 03:51 amCanon Puncturing - for lack of a better term, this is what we're going to call it. We're referring to the practice of sending your character up to another and saying, in essence, 'OMG u r not reel, u r a fictional character!' There's been a lot of this going on recently, on all sides, and we have this to say: STOP.
Don't ret-con any previous plotlines - what's done is done - but please, no more. It has the potential to create some very sticky meta situations which will only end up messing with everybody's heads.
If you want to create some existential angst for your own character by, say, having them find a copy of their canon lying around the bar, that's fine. BUT, before you do so, you will need to check for permission with every other character from that canon in the bar.
Likewise, if you should decide that another character is fictional in your world (and please, please, don't), before mentioning it in any way, shape, or form in the bar, you will need to receive consent from:
a) Every character from the canon you decide is fictional, and
b) Every character from your own canon.
For example, if Snow White-mun wanted to bring a volume of 'Revolutionary Girl Utena' into the bar, before they did so, they'd have to check with Bigby-mun (from their own canon), Anthy-mun, A-ko-mun, B-ko-mun, Akio-mun, and Utena-mun (from Utena-canon), even if the only person they intended to show it to was, say, Anthy.
In conclusion: every character in Milliway's is created equal. Everybody is real, so, unless you receive specific permission to do otherwise, please treat them as such.

Upon Reading Last Night's Mod Post
Sep. 15th, 2004 02:32 pmA lot of the meta stuff that's been going on in the bar has been me, through Wensley. I sincerely apologise if this has offended or upset anyone.
The theory I was planning on having Wensley decide on is the theory that all of the universes, if you will, are real, and that they somehow leak into other realities in the form of fiction.
But. If anyone is upset about this and doesn't want their character included - or wants me to stop altogether - please let me know, and I'd be happy to discuss.
Again, sorry about any issues I've caused.

Two threadzillae, and minor plot matters as well. (I swear these things multiply.) Cut-tagged by topic, for the sake of us all.
( A conversation with Regulus, and how Desire offended the bar. )
( Jane Drew, Will Stanton, and Rand al'Thor. )
( Of Tea and Lemonade, Families and Friends: Yrael, Scott, Inigo, Will, and Peter. )
( The Wheel of Time turns: Rand, Mat, and Moiraine. )
Whew. That's it, for now. I am dead of summary. :)

Sep. 15th, 2004 05:16 pmHokay!
I need all the applicants who haven't been hired yet to let me know of their time zone and availability within the next few evenings. There's no way for me to interview 15 people in one night, so we'll do this one night at a time until I'm done. At the end, I'll post the hirings in the bar, and a full roster of employees in the back room.
So. What time is is where you are, what time will you be on, what days?

Sep. 15th, 2004 05:42 pmI'm afraid I'm not going to make it in tonight. Mother Nature in her infinite wisdom has decided to make me feel lousy and I'm not sure I'm up for a long session. Sorry. :/

Sep. 15th, 2004 06:44 pmATTN: Meg-mun and Tere-mun.
Val-mun has asked me to ask you guys if you can possibly contact the person who plays Bernard and ask for permission for tonight's plot. She also says she will be on around 9 or 10 central time: she isn't sure, but she thinks she forgot to tell you guys that she has church tonight, and is sorry for forgetting to tell you, but she will be on, and can stay up as late as necessary to get this done.
end message!~!~

Sep. 15th, 2004 07:55 pmHa! Am summarizing the next day. Wonders never cease.
Disclaimer: this was just about the most discontinuous thread ever, so please ignore any weirdness on that score.
Tonks arrives looking a little tired, and opts for tea instead of the hard stuff. Crowley shows up, makes a similar beverage choice, and they discuss their days. Crowley's worried that the angel might be upset with him. Tonks is a little bit surprised to hear it, and she and Crowley mull the possible reasons why Aziraphale might be upset. They establish Tonks' happiness. Aww. They move on to the gender-bending powers of ethereals, at which point Tonks ponders the actual implications of this and has a slight meltdown. Fleur chimes in and Crowley gets poked. Tonks-mun dies laughing. Crowley and Bernard talk shop and Iskander. Back with Tonks, Crowley says something rather sweet about the angel, which prompts Tonks to ensure that she knows where she stands on certain things. He does. Mild Dickensian threats are made before Tonks departs for the night.
Meanwhile, Bernard and Fleur join them, both looking a little...rumpled. Tonks asks about the new hiring, and she and Bernard discuss the life of a barman and Crowley's long face. The hole in the ceiling gets fixed. The two of them get philosophical, and then thoughtful. The two of them display their mutual soft spots for one another before Tonks heads out. Moiraine approaches for a chat with Bernard about her tab, which evolves into a deeper discussion of the Pattern, the nature of the bar, and war.
Meanwhile, Bernard and Fleur are sweet, and Tonks hesitantly points out Fleur's hair issues. Fleur flips. There is more sweet.
Ooooookay. That was a model of incoherency.
I care not. :)

(I'm having a blast, I'm just overwhelmed. How many threads do we have going? And what did I do to deserve this? :D )

Er - by the way...
Sep. 15th, 2004 10:29 pmThere is a really garrish-colored roller coaster out behind the bar - it kinda loops around everything back there - the Whomping Willow, the lake, the forest, the Shrieking Shack. It's green and purple with orange dots. Oh - and the cars are situated in very strange positions - some face forward, some backwards, some sideways - heck, some might even be diagonal.
What a ride! :)
ETA: The roller coaster will disappear when the sun comes up in the morning.
