A while ago, Mark Cohen gave Ray a check for a million dollars. Ray never cashed it, because Bank of New York doesn't have interdimensional communication yet, but when the payment sign went up he gave the check to Bar. He's covering Peter Venkman, Dana Barrett, Egon Spengler, Aang, and John and Robbie Preston.

If there's still money left over after paying off their tabs and his own (he's been paying his own as he goes along, mostly by selling synthesized opals back home), he's asked the Bar to put it towards the tabs of anyone else he knows who's Bound.

I know there's been some consternation running rampant since I called all tabs last night. But I wanted to, first, point a few facts out, and second, disseminate some information.

First:

• I have done this before. Long ago, when Bernard first became Head Barman, he called for all tabs to be paid up.


• Did you know that Sirius Black used to close the bar for the night, and tell people to pay up? Considering that, Bernard's policy of letting some tabs go, what? A year and a half? --doesn't sound bad at all.


• There was some ennui in the game, and it was growing. I don't know about you, but play was more exciting and more vital and downright amusing than it has been in months, across the board.


• If you think I'm mean... Well. You should have been here a year ago. I used to run this bar with an iron hand every single crazy night. Apply to oldbies for details. Nearly everyone's got a Bernardian Fascism Story. Then I got crazy pills and calmed down, and THEN I got tired and stressed and lazy. So now I'm gonna strike a balance.

Second:

• I will do this again. Yar. This is gonna be a regular occurence, and almost always a surprise to shake things up.


• A common complaint I have heard is that your characters are Bound. Uh. The only thing that's keeping them Bound is you. Milliways has become a complacent fantasy bubble, where the Landlord takes you away from all your canon troubles. People don't even have to pay! Well, they do now. (On a side note, did you know that the ratio of Bound characters to UnBound characters has increased exponentially? Why? Why can't your character come and go back and forth like others? Just an observation I've made. A Binding is Insta-Plot, true, but it's not exactly revolutionary.)

As of right now, if your pup knows Faith and has a tab in the red, his or her tab has Diminished Overnight.

I leave it to most of you to figure out how much by - because, frankly, the money scramblings are amusing for plot - but I will say that the better they know her, the bigger the payoff.

Saphie, Andy, Ven, if you like, you can safely consider the Trio's tabs all dealt with.

And Josie...consider this my way of dealing with Doyle's? Thanks love. :D

Cake or death? Whore or reporter?

While I think we all know what Eddie Izzard would choose, what would your pup do? See, I think the tab thing is a great way to give pups some plot, something to do in the bar, and get a little realism going on. I also think there are potentially much more interesting ways to get your tab paid off than through the offices of a conveniently wealthy friend, which is why Lilly's not paying off any tabs. Besides, they're only going to run up again if the pup doesn't have a steady source of income.

Instead, she is offering positions (hee. positions. *goes to stand with Karen in the 12-year old corner*) on the paper (once Becca and I get the staff roster and handwavey publication a little more organized) and of course, in Madam Lilly's Delicate Flowers brothel. About that... it was kinda a cracky idea, but there have been serious applicants and people need jobs and to get laid and Lilly is already picking out fabulous Madam outfits and planning a launch party and yeah. This is what happens when you let Josie encourage you, people.

So, paper will probably be hiring a reporter or two, and the brothel will be hiring whores (she has four already. wtf, yo?), a bouncer or two, (Lilly will look after her bitches), and possibly additional support positions. (hee. suppo-... *goes back to corner*). Of course, the brothel will also need clients to keep going. Confidentiality assured.

If you have any pups who'd be interested in and especially in need of jobs either on the paper or in the whorehouse, AND if you have a pup who's a potential brothel client, comment below and let me know? And, uh, you might want to be sure you specify which one they're interested in. ;-)

Post of multipurpose!

Firstly, you've probably noticed Ko popping up to gift people with fruit. This's because it's spring, he's a fertility/agriculture spirit, and thus spring makes him incredibly happy. And when Ko is happy, he gives people presents.

That said, if your pup doesn't eat the fruit, nothing will happen. If your pup does eat the fruit, nothing will happen except they might get fruit juice on their fingers. It's just regular, albeit very tasty, fruit from his Garden.



Secondly, as of today, all the Narnians have had their tabs transferred to Rilian of Narnia's tab, as has Kitty Pryde. Mostly because he is stupidly noble at times and sees their welbeing as his responsibility, since he's the only living King of Narnia in Milliways.

Yes, this includes Jadis.

So if your pup is a friend of Aeryn's or someone who you think should know. Assume they got a note stating that she's in the infirmary with a broken arm, recovering from heat delirium. With my handwavedness she'll be recovered and in the cooling suit for three days, but her broken arm will take longer. *needs to research how long*

So as of this post, Tom and Door are officially seeking a nanny (for morning hours, mostly) and tutors for Gavroche and Ingress. These are paid positions, of course, and will require very little actual RP-ing - we will handwave most of the day-to-day educational experiences. But like Ingress's other teachers for swordfighting and all, the relationships will be there

As I can't do a huge amount of threads at a time, either Lynette or I will "schedule interviews" in slow time.

Whore Interviews II: Brothel Boogaloo

Okay, holy crap. I did not realize that so many people would want to be whores. Although... really, I should not be this surprised. So.

Lilly will be in bar as often as I can get her, at varying times, so that she can talk to all potential whores, bouncers, and supporters that have tagged previous post. If you haven't tagged and are interested, please tag! I'm using that post for coordination purposes. It's hard out here for a pimp, yo. Also, if you could leave me an IM name, that'd be really helpful. I'm 'da emmy gee' on aim, ping me anytime to set up interview times or just chortle about possible whorenames for your pup.

As of right now, it looks like there may be more applicants than Lilly can use. However, I'm working on a couple ideas to drum up clients, and also strippers and masseuses could be used for parties, etc, so hopefully she'll be able to hire as many people as I can realistically get away with.

Man. I still can't believe my dead blonde teenage girl is starting a brothel at the end of the universe. Actually... it's Lilly. I totally can. On with the show!
