O-kay! I've been on hiatus for a few months because of being really sick, but I'm going to try my hand at being active again. Along with this return to activity, I want to pick up on my new year's resolution of rping with new people, so I'm stepping outside my comfort zone. I figure I may not be the only one, so here's a meme: comment with the name of a character (or two, or three) you've really been wanting to rp with, but never caught a chance. Then keep an eye on the post - maybe someone will comment with one of yours!

One Character - Multiple Game policy reminder

Hi, everyone!

Just a note on old policy, for those of you who may be new to the Bar-

A lot of people, myself included, have character journals that they occasionally use in more than one multi-fandom RPG. This is fine and dandy, but remember: what happens at Milliways is only affected by what happens at Milliways. History, background, interactions, etc. from other RPGs is not to be brought into the Bar- if, for instance, Ray here fights Vigo the Carpathian in another game such as dear_multiverse, he can't come back to the Bar and talk about it there. Same deal if Wells talks to somebody in another game who can cure lycanthropy- that doesn't apply here, because that's another game. The other game's not Milliways, so what happened there doesn't happen here, no matter what journal you use.

Backstory for your characters is, as ever, welcomed and strongly encouraged, but bringing in game history or ongoing stuff from other games? That's a no. Always has been.

As the pup in question does not have Back Room access yet, Garion will be doing his PSA. That said:

If your pup approaches Mitchell and has any sort of mechanical anything on their person, please let me know either by AIM or in narration or in an OOC note at the bottom. Mitchell will be able to hear it and possibly, depending on how close and the status of the object in question, talk to it. Your pup (unless they are partially mechanical) very well might not hear him doing so but this is true all the same.

That said, if the object is OFF or inactive (as in, a gun with the safety on or a cellphone that is turned off), it is effectively sleeping to him. He will know it's there, but he won't hear anything from it. Further, objects can lie to him. Even further, he won't be nosy unless he's given reason to be and anything he hears from your machinery will be discussed with and/or provided by you. The only possible exception to this is for comedic value (ie "Your cellphone would really appreciate if it wasn't put in the same pants pocket as your keys" or something equally innoculous).

Milli-poker, anyone? (ATTN: Security too)

I'm planning to have YT start up a poker game in Milliways soon - perhaps tonight, within the next couple of days at least. However, to make it work, I know I'll have to do a little OOC coordinating, hence this post.

I will need three other pups to play cards with YT. You generally need at least four for an interesting game, and any more than that will be very difficult for all players involved to handle. Also, we will not be playing for real money, although we will have chips (your pups can ask if real money is involved, though).

The purpose of this poker thread is, primarily, humor. That means cheating is allowed - the more flagrant, obvious, and bizarre, the better. I would also love to have one pup who is familiar with the general concept of poker, but kind of shaky on the specific rules - all the better for interesting goof-ups.

In the interests of helping things run smoothly, I ask you to give me some modding powers in the course of this thread - to decide when the actual gameplay starts (after initial "player recruitment"), possibly to decide where people sit, and to handwave a few rounds. At the start, at least, I would like us to take turns in a standard "left-to-right" fashion, depending upon who sits where, in order to help things stay organized.

I would also like somebody's cheating to eventually result in a fight between two or more of the players, who will probably end up getting dragged off to the cells by security (security pups, this is why I asked for your attention), so if you're not willing to have your pup spend a while in lockup, this poker game probably isn't for you.

If you are a regular on Crackchat in the evenings, it will be a big help in keeping the poker thread organized and running. Otherwise, use posts with OOC comments. If I do a bit of "directing" that you think is out of line, post an OOC reply saying so to me, and I will modify the comment accordingly (although I hope nobody needs to do that.

The first three pups to express interest and confirm their eventual participation will get into the game. If you decide to join, keep your eyes peeled for a plotlocked post by me titled "Five-card Stud."

Also, if you have any questions or things you want clarified, feel free to ask here, or on crackchat when I'm there later (my SN is BookBeast4).

EDIT: Barring any unforeseen developments, we now have four players. However, I would like a non-player pup with good knowledge of the rules of five-card stud to be the dealer, and possibly use a real deck of cards (thanks to pirate_gibbs for this suggestion) to keep things realistic, until the cheating starts.

Asar-Suti is hiring gardeners, and, as a special service to denizens of the bar, will accept a) requests for herbs to be grown and b) hobby gardeners that want their own little patch at the far corner of the garden (so you can have that charrie out gardening if that's a thing they would do IC-ly, even if they don't get hired and paid for it because they don't fit the requirements).

Helva will be making an appearance IN the bar itself soon,(by the end of the next week) with any luck. Meantime, she's out by the lake and noticeable/approachable to anyone who wants to stumble across a talking( and rather a chatterbox) brainship.
Much belated thanks to Wellard's, Nita's, Ray and Bob's muns for fun(if woeful at times) threads so far!

At present, too, if there's any pups in the Bar needing temporary employment who'd like to help her with some repairs/refurbishing, as well as computer work, letme know and we'll hash out details. I can be reached either here or via my contact info in Helva's journal profile.

Longer term: she's temporarily Bound, but if there's a pup, or more than one, that is unable/doesn't want to return to their home 'reality' for a long stretch, --or at all? and hasn't settled elsewhere? barring those who are 'dead' or seriously unwell physically, it might be worth their while to look her up. She *can* operate without a brawn or other crew, but it's not her preference.

That happy time of year known as April Fool’s is almost upon us once again! As anyone who’s been here long enough will know, it’s an excuse for a whole lot of crack and manic laughter- on the muns’ parts, if not the pups’.
