Liz has left Milliways, and gone back to 1811 to marry Mr Darcy. This is how she got there. My apologies as this summary should have been done long ago, but it's kind of the summary of DOOM, and I've been procrastinating like a fiend. We've been plotting for over three weeks, building up for over two, and it's all rather complicated. I sigh.
The whole ordeal begins back with
Liz's return to Milliways several weeks back.
( Background LJ-cut for length ) This is where the fun really starts. Peter
confesses about the confession, and Liz is
rendered largely speechless. Peter is unnerved by her reaction, as he should be. Liz
learns of Peter's previous conversation with "a friend" (Desire), and
hysteria results. Peter learns what caused the hysteria, and
has a shellshocked moment of his own. There is talk of Endless abuse, then Liz
begins to spill her own story. The backstory abounds, Peter
faces the situation with stoicism, and internal
angst permeates the air liek wo. Liz admits that
she does not love Darcy (sending P&P purists screaming), and affirms her determination to go after Desire. Liz
takes off, forgetting Darcy's engagement ring behind her. Peter
picks it up and pockets it to return later.
Liz
hunts down Desire, and the two exchange increasingly
bitter and
accusatory remarks. Liz finally
insults Desire in a very Austenian manner and stalks off. Meanwhile, Peter
looks for Delirium, hoping to speak to her and learn more about the Endless before he tries to talk to Desire himself. Del
warns Peter about her Sibling's temper, and suggests that Peter
pray. Peter then
searches for Desire, and the two share a drink. Desire
delivers a warning of its own, and asks Peter to speak to Liz before Desire loses its temper with her. Peter agrees.
Liz speaks with various friends at this time. She and Morpheus discuss
Peter and
Desire. Morpheus
warns her against it and offers to assist her, but Liz
refuses, given past interactions between the siblings. Liz
talks with Raph the following (Monday)morning, professing the
need for a distraction, and the two plan a
Movie Night for the following evening. That night, Liz
speaks with Anthy, who inquires about her
(black) rose. The two have a
very unnerving and wholly unintended conversation about life without dreams, hope or drive. It's all rather coincidentally explicitly foreshadowing.
After Liz is done talking with Anthy, Peter
approaches the table, intending to warn Liz against Desire. It goes over like a ton of bricks. Liz
guesses Desire's involvement in the planned speech, gets frustrated, and actually
snaps at Peter. She promises to
avoid seeking out Desire, but warns that if Desire approaches her, she won't restrain herself - the same thing Desire had previously told Peter about her. Liz gets up and
storms away across the bar, and without even noticing, ends up two seats away from Desire.
Desire has been
watching Peter and Liz's conversation, although it turned away before Liz's departure and did not see her approach. It
sighs to itself, and Liz overhears, mistaking the words for a jab at her. The situation escalates rapidly. Desire makes some
incredibly horrible statements, including
insinuations that infuriate Liz enough that she
slaps the Endless. Desire is livid. It forces Liz to
sit,
smile, and drink Scotch against her will, while
threatening her with other will control. Finally, Desire demands that she
reveal what she wants. The terrified Liz says what she wants most: for Desire to stop what it's doing to her. Of course, Desire interprets her formal phrasing to mean that she disavows it completely. It grants what it sees as her wish,
snuffing all of her desires, and disappearing. I would also like to note that Bansh utterly scared me while RPing this. Fear her.
Tuesday night, Liz doesn't show up as planned for the movie night (an absence which was not planned, by the way), and people
panic. Liz wanders in towards the end of the movie,
acting very odd, and
goes to the bar. Morpheus figures out what is wrong, and
wigs out. Death and Moiraine
talk him down. By this point, Todd (who has made a habit of shadowing Liz) is already
at her side. Moiraine comes over to
deflect Todd. Peter
takes Liz away to try to get the truth of the situation from her, which he manages to do. She is operating on need, not desire, and is only concerned with her survival.
Wednesday night, Liz
drags herself into the bar, feeling like she needs to do something. Will
expresses concern, Cordelia
thinks that Liz has been slipped sedatives, and Inigo Montoya (
Liz's new bodyguard) wants to
skewer whoever's responsible. Moiraine
tries to question Liz on behalf of Morpheus. In another part of the bar, Peter
realises that he still has Liz's engagement ring from Mr Darcy, and excuses himself from conversation to go
return it to her. Upon receiving it, Liz
recalls the duty involved with that engagement. As she needs, rather than wants, to go through with it, her sense of duty drives her. She
breaks away from the group, hurries to the front door, and
walks back into 1811, where Mr Darcy waits for her.
Other things happen after that, but as Liz wasn't around for them, I'm not touching them. I have summarised quite enough, thank you. If someone would like to tack the subsequent events in the comments to this, feel free. Likewise, if there's anything I forgot, drop it in. When you're summarising a plotline this expansive, you're bound to leave something out. EVER so much love to all of the people who played in this. This is the most fun I've ever had RPing. You're all incredible. :D
