I am in an all day training session today so today's DE is a self sustaining one, as suggested by

aberration since we have so ~~much new blood~~ many new players and it's been a while since we ran a contact post. Let's also throw in an introduction as well, just because.

Riddle me this: Am I the only one still scrolling through this week's love meme (which: ahhh, you guys ♥!) to pepper it with more comments and wondering, Oh my goodness, I know that person, I know I know that person, but my brain is a sieve -- who do they play?

In the wake of today's inspiring DE, I was thinking that it would be great to have a roll call post here that we could save to memories for quick and easy reference! Often in chat, someone will ask, "Who do you play again?" This would help with that, and maybe recruit some people to our fandoms, or at least our threads!

Hello hello!

It's that time again: CONTACT LIST UPDATES. Made any changes to your pup roster, AIM handle, or mun journal in the past three months? Take a peek at the Milliways Contact List, then leave a comment with your name in the subject line and the changes you'd like to make to your entry. By May 20th, I'll go through the database and update stuff as needed.

And if you've just joined the Milliways madness, welcome! :) Feel free to add yourself to the list using the same link above; while inclusion is completely voluntary, it does make it easier for folks to find you if they've got OOC questions to ask, fangirl/boy squealing to share, or just the desire to say "hi."

(Also, modly types: is there any chance the contact list link could be updated on the main Milliways and back room pages?)

I mean, uh. Goooooood afternoon, Milliways! It's been a while since I could sleep past noon. ANYWAY.

Another three months have come and gone, and the February apps are being processed as we speak. That means it's time for -- you guessed it -- CONTACT LIST UPDATES!

Apped a new character? Retired one? Changed your e-mail or AIM handle? Check your entry at the Milliways Contact List, then leave a comment here with your name in the subject line and any changes you'd like to make. Within a week, I'll gather them up and go through the database to update everything.

And if you haven't added yourself to the contact list yet, please feel free to do so! It's by no means a mandatory thing, but having people's OOC contact info on hand does come in all kinds of handy for plotting, squeeing, or just getting to know your fellow muns.

It's been three months, and apps just closed. You know what that means?

CONTACT LIST UPDATES!

The Milliways Contact List is a slowly-growing directory of OOC contact info for the muns in this here RP. Inclusion is completely and totally voluntary, but, like the Milliways userinfo says, it's good to have these things on hand for plotting, squeeing, and sharing o_O moments with each other. So if you're not already in there, feel free to add yourself!

However. If you're already in the database, and anything has changed for your entry in the last three months, please, please don't make a new entry. Instead, comment here with your name as it appears in the directory and any changes you'd like to be made to either your contact info or your list of pups. I'll go through the database in a few days and make all of the necessary updates.

'Nother month, 'nother wave of new pups, 'nother one or two new muns, 'nother chance to really get confused about who the hell is who. I think it's time for another round of introductions.

I'm a PhD student in dinosaur Palaeontology, now in my fourth and final year and trying to produce a thesis with no income at all. It's hard with my attention span, so I RP to pretend everything's OK. I live in London, talk a lot about the political and social influence of fiction, and never friends lock a thing on my journal.

So, first, the bad news: recently, the domain that was hosting the Milliways Contact List burnt down, fell over and sank into the swamp, taking our database of OOC contact info with it.

The good news, however: Rue, the original maintainer of said contact list, has graciously allowed me to build another one that will stay up. :D So...

The new URL of the OOC contact list is http://milliways.purplebrickroad.net/.

Since this is effectively a brand-new list, even if you've already put your contact info into the database before, you'll have to hop over there and re-add yourself if you want to stay on it. (Think of it as an easy way to make all those edits to your contact info that you've been wanting to make for a while! Or, er...something.) Like it says in the

milliways_bar userinfo, adding yourself to the list is by no means a mandatory thing, but it's a good way to help us keep in touch with one another to plot, squee, or share o_O moments.

Also, unfortunately, because of quirks with the CGI script, you won't be able to edit your info once it's in there; I have to go into the database and change things manually. Sucks, I know. However, I'm hoping to make a "Contact List Updates" post once every three months to keep things current, so keep an eye out for those as the new list grows.

(...And hey, look at that, I made it through an entire post about lists without cracking a single Heroes-related joke. HAH. I win.)

If you know anyone in the community who doesn't read the back room, please point them in this direction. I'll be posting a notification in the main bar, also, and will update the userinfo of the community to link to this post.

In other words, THIS IS IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ.

We've added another option in the long and varied list of ways of contacting us.

We understand that it can be nervewracking, approaching a mod. This is one of those things that's a universal truth - we're not scary people individually, really we're not, but we are in a position of power and it's therefore understandable that people may be a little leery of coming to us with problems. However, I will say that we are unable to tackle any problems unless they are brought to our attention.

In the past there have been faint rumblings of favouritism and the like. As much as we try not to allow that to happen, there are times when we've dealt with the problems of our friends, for the simple reason that they are prepared to approach us and let us know when there's a problem. If you tell us about a problem, we will look into it and we will do our utmost best to sort it out to everyone's advantage.

This does include if your problem is with one of the mods. You are free to email us individually if you'd rather not have your identity revealed to the entire group of us. If you provide as much information as possible, we will then speak to the individual involved without revealing where the information comes from.

Again, there may be people suspicious of this as a practice, which is why we've come up with yet another way to make your lives easier.

There is now a mun email account. The address is anonymun(at)googlemail.com and the password is anonymous.

You can use this email address to contact the mod account without revealing your identity. We will treat it as we do any request - by investigating the circumstances, and dealing with it as we see fit. The fact that you choose to remain anonymous will not affect it in any way.

Needless to say, if the email account is abused, we'll just stop responding to the emails.
